[The whole point of registering with a forum is to post, not to sit about for 2 years as it makes the other members happy.

Well you wouldn't want to underestimate the value of keeping the other members happy, would you?

Anyway, I'm not Hitler. Let's call it 1 year and then *everyone's* a winner.

Yeah but the whole reason anyone is here is because they wish to talk about tv presentation. If someone asks a question they shouldn't be shot down. I am a young energetic and the very thought of having to wait 2 years to post so no one calls me a **** would make me really annoyed. If that was to happen then the owner of this site should make it a rule, instead he sits and watches and lets people abuse new members which results in them leaving. Ok, I am sure some are the trolls you mention but not everyone is.

Well of course it would. I'm more of an old lethargic myself, but even I can see that would be frustrating.

The newcomers who get a hard time are the ones who, by accident or design, annoy other users of the site. Repeatedly.

A lot of it is down to silly things like not checking to see if what you signed up to say has already been said. Easy to avoid if the new member has a good read of the site first. I would. That's just courtesy, isn't it?

There are others who start a dozen new topics in the week they arrive - and they tend to get told to shut up. That's how little communities operate. The more established members here tend to know when there is trouble brewing, and after 4 years or so, I know who's judgement I trust.

If the above factors are taken into account, there isn't any reason you or anyone else won't be here in years to come, saying exactly the same thing.

Well I have noticed some rather unusual members posting really silly things and how I don't mind the odd bit of mis-spelling another particular member has a knack of delibrately mucking up his words. Perhaps a former member who was banned and has come back for a laugh as he knows it annoys people. Speaking about myself, I posted the ITN thread about which studio is which and got blasted for it. Some members came on and told me it's best not to mention in case of bombers which I understood and accepted, BUT then a couple called me names which is abuse and not nice at all. I see that over the years due to the number of daft members that have appeared some of the more long term members are a bit curious when it comes to a new member posting so by result they resort to abuse. Fair enough. I agree with a lot of what your saying but I wouldn't say you were old - or at least don't sound it!
