One member who has over a thousand posts wonders about looking for trouble. Every time someone posts a topic, he replies with a dig about it or something totally irrelevant yet he is the first one to shout about trolls.

You mean me? My god, it's me isn't it?

For the love of god you have to tell me!

No it wasn't you I was talking about Gavin, someone who THINKS he is sensible and TALKS very funny (in a crap way) and if I were to produce a thread dedicated to HIM and HIM alone with all his crap then the site would end up closing because of to much BANDWIDTH. Do YOU know who I am talking about NOW?

TVN's truthful advice to which none of you new members seem to have read posted:
My advice would be:-

1. Post in existing discussions only for a while, don't open new threads for a few weeks, until you have learned more about how well different kinds of thread are recieved.
2. Never, never, never open a thread saying "Hi, I am a new member...." this is prone to attack by other members, and to be fair a thread like this is pointless. You could just slip it in to a post in another topic.
3. Respect other members.
4. Do not post anything unless you are SURE it is true.
5. Make sure your spelling is good and grammar is acceptable
6. Nvr txt!! : Laughing

Once I was involved in an incident where I stuck up for a new member becuase they were under attack by an existing member. I was advised to look at another of this members posts and it turned out that this person was a complete troll, and I apoligised to the other member involved.

By following these points, it should ensure that new members just blend in to the community at first, and if somebody really wants to be a member, it should not be a problem to lay low for a while.

I hope this is of help!

On the third point about respect - surely to give respect, you should also receive respect back? It does work both ways.

Whilst I may understand tweetypie's concerns, I have only been a member for about 2 years, and certainly wouldn't have made such statements after such a short time.

I did not make many posts in my first year, and only began to start threads (only 2 or 3) this year.

I find the Forum itself interesting - just by reading other people's comments. Since I am not in the "industry" I just indulge my hobby with those of similar interest, and only comment when I believe I can add something to the discussion (well, I hope so anyway Shocked ).

I must admit perhaps my one weak point is supporting those who are lambasted in the Mocks Forum. Sometimes they have good ideas but are unable (through lack of experience with the progams they use) to put them into the same excellent format and quality that we see from some of the experts such as Lee S, for example.

Maybe it would be better if new members were not allowed to start new threads for a while - this would allow them to go through a learning curve at least, and experience the excellent quality of comment and discussion that is generally produced in the forum.

I can't be me because I've been dis-embowled for trashing my password, and had to re-invent poor olde sheep with hyphens.

Alas, its pointless as I do talk utter crap all the time. But then whose crap is the steepest, MrStrawsonsSheeep or Tessa?

Well I have made such a statement as I had only posted a couple of times and got called names although it was uncalled for. The whole point of registering with a forum is to post, not to sit about for 2 years as it makes the other members happy.

Well you wouldn't want to underestimate the value of keeping the other members happy, would you?

Anyway, I'm not Hitler. Let's call it 1 year and then *everyone's* a winner.
