It always annoyed me that LWT's logo remained red white and blue when the generic hearts idents were first introduced.
LWT quickly ditched the generic look for the videowall look because the former didn't look very good, right?
Well, that's their own fault for not allowing the three letters to all be yellow (everyone else converted o yellow for the region name, and Granada even changed the G from silver to yellow).
As the T is blue and the spinning hearts background is blue, that obviously will not look good - to have the background and part of the logo both in the same colour (albeit different shades).
If they'd allowed the LWT letters to be all yellow in the first place, it wouldn't have looked so odd and therefore maybe they would still be using them now, rather than having changed to the videowall look.
I don't think LWT ditched the generic idents because their logo wasn't yellow!

I think that the white-on-purple of the LWT on the new endcap looks classy. In fact, I would go as far as saying it's not bad.

I agree with Big Phil on this one... it is a
lot
better than it could have been... the 'hearts' generic really just didn't work with LWT's image (hence the videowall) but this is a quality item... proves that GMG know more about idents than Network Centre... (having said that I'll bet it's the same design company!)

Having though about it The Red White & blue wouldn't work now especially seeing as everycolour you would use for the background woul make at least one letter hard to see, plus I like this new look but NOT another videowall PLEEEEEEEEEEASE
Did Ballistix produce this endcaps, there are very good, maybe they should replace the hearts idents with these purple idents!

I think that what they are doing although someone said on another thread that LWT may not take them up if they don't like them but they must do as why would Granada bother making that production slide. It actually amazes me that with the exception of that local Yorkshire ident none of the ITV channels did idents in the style (the company logo in the background)
