I think UKTV Gold's new idents are funny, imaginative, and well-executed. How do they come up with this stuff?

how does people bouncing around on golden balls represent what the channel is allegedilly suppose to be!

I thought this channel was about the UK, so why have US shows crept into it, seriously this shows the people at UKTV have lost the plot totally with these stupid space bopper idents!

Ah, seems you and others caught the UK part of the name but misinterpreted what it means. See, many a programme produced in the US airs on the channel and why not? Is anything that comes from outside these hallowed isles somehow no good and it must be proper, good, older than your raggiest T-shirt you slum about in, decent British telly to go onto this channel because it has the word UK in it's name? The channel was showing Dallas in it's early days but that was OK, wasn't it? I doubt that channel would be any good unless it was the ******* offspring of UK Gold in it's odder days and Granada Plus that you remember it as but never was. Some of you, you speak as if they're raping your first-born or something because they didn't figure to consult some of you folk first on the idents. They're not terrible but I'd like to know what you'd figure would correctly describe the channel in one large, gaudy and peopleless way... gold ingot maybe? No, that one's been done...

The idents are naff and ****, and they spent 10m to get people bouncing around with golden balls, its a bloody joke!

Please keep up! The £10 million figure is the total investment in the channel, it isn't the amount spent on the identity

You are very much mistaken then

The channel is called UKTV Gold. It is owned by a company called UKTV. But that in no way restricts it from only showing UK originated programming.

It's not the only UKTV channel that shows non-uk programming either

I like them too. I really can't understand the level of response from people here especiallyl when you consider that the predesessor to the space hopper was 3 diffrent idents containing just people watching TV!

From what I've seen so far UK Gold now has branding containing elements that are genre & night-time specific and contains matching stings and bumpers. The space hopper theme is original, quite amusing and well executed. I can't really see the problem

If you think these are bad, look back to the golden apples idents from 10 years ago!

They're space hoppers.
They have 'UKTV GOLD' written on them.
They are painted in the colour gold

What more do you want?

Might have been better spent bringing in some programmes in Widescreen then, considering the channel effectively is BBC1 + 6 months!

Proper idents like the Golden bars, what was so wrong with that, am I just too old fashioned or something, but why cant designers come up with anything decent, they always have to have live action now!

Some people just cant get over the loss of the COW Globe.

I am not keen, as the logo isn't too prominent, and it is a pretty literal execution of an idea, which has a lack of subtlety to it.

You talk about CGI idents, and you feel people are throwing bricks at you sometimes Crying or Very sad

They're not brilliant, but they're better than the previous set. So many people fail to understand UK Gold, it's not an archive channel and never really has been, it's always shown old programmes but has always shown fairly recent programmes, us movies and from time to time US programming.

These idents are probably about what I expected, we've certainly had better but people seem to be lacking inspiration these days, for a general entertainment channel - which UK Gold is - these are suitable.
