I'm annoyed with those after watching them once, god knows what i'll feel like watching them for however long they're on! Lets hope not long.

And I think they spent £10 million on 'revamping', which i'm sure includes the extra programming, i doubt they spent £10 million on THOSE idents alone. If they did, then someone needs their head testing, i could have filmed that for £50.

Yes, it's an investment in the channel:

This year, UKTV Gold’s three-pronged content strategy will see £10million invested in two key programming areas. Firstly, the channel is committed to commissioning talent-fronted formats that reinvent some of the nation’s favourite TV shows, such as Wogan; Now and Then (series 1-3), Only Fools and Horses Greatest Moments, TV Now and Then with Les Dennis, Jim’ll Fix It Strikes Again and The Generation Game: Then Again.

Secondly, UKTV Gold will compete on the open market to acquire new US series and blockbuster movies to encourage viewers to reappraise the channel while reconnecting with classic US retro titles such as Dallas, Fantasy Island and Charlie’s Angels. Recent acquisitions include Prison Break (series 1 & 2) and Shark with Five, 3lbs with the BBC, as well as the Emmy award-winning The New Adventures of Old Christine (series 1 & 2) exclusively in the UK.

I am only half way through them while typing this and they are boring me already! The same naff music again and again on each ident just like ITV1. They would have been ‘slightly’ better with different variations of music on each ident!

... But the spacehop on Millenium Bridge should be good Smile

Remember though that you won't see/hear them back to back on air

Personally I like them, they're quirky and original which is more than can be said for UKTVs recent efforts.

I thought this channel was about the UK, so why have US shows crept into it, seriously this shows the people at UKTV have lost the plot totally with these stupid space bopper idents!

The idents are naff and ****, and they spent 10m to get people bouncing around with golden balls, its a bloody joke!

I must be among the minority then.

I think UKTV Gold's new idents are funny, imaginative, and well-executed. How do they come up with this stuff?

I like them, though I do think the three rectangle thing that UKTV have used for ages could have been used in the idents. I think its a good device. The idents are lively I think, and harshy, they didn't cost £10m. The idents were only a fraction of that. A lot of that budget went on new programming.

The Cheerleaders one?

When that was being shot, did anyone realize the irony? They're all wearing " U.S.A " tops an in ident for what is probably UKTV 's main channel!

I don't think these idents are very good. The music which is the same on every scene lets it down; it could work better if they each had a different track, and visually used plain backgrounds to draw attention to the action instead of having actual (rather unremarkable) real world locations for a backdrop. That would probably distinguish it as an ident.

In fact, I'd rather have the breakbumpers as idents, more eye-catching - and they're just a CG-looking Hopper on a black background!

How is anything to do with space hoppers Gold? I can understand the older themes, even the fireworks to some extent (although they were only ever gold for the millennium), and again the use of PEOPLE! Why do we want to see people making idiots of themselves when we might prefer to see serene landscapes or witty logos? Grrrrrr!
