I find the tv guide in the Sun is good enough for me these days. I used to love the days of buying both the Radio and Tv Times lol when there were good programmes on then. Well it seemed so anyway.

I think that the new TV Times is rubbish, i have been buying it since about 1987 and this has got to be the worst, 90p for 100 pages, but the Radio Times is 5p more and you get 148 pages, there is alot more Channels listed and the Radio times, it covers the Kids TV towards the back with a weekend listing and a weekday listing.
From this week i have changed my order from my local shop from the TV Times to the Radio Times.
The TV Times is going like ITV down hill, the only bit i will miss from the TV Times is the other ITV Regional programmes listings for the rest of England as some times the can be some good regional programmes on that dont get a network showing. but i can get this info from the Internet.

What's on TV have now followed other TV magazines and have reduced the number of regional editions they produce

The Yorkshire/North East edition is now the Granada/Yorkshire/North East edition

Unlike other magazines all three regions do get the same amount of detail with Granada's programme listed first followed by Yorkshire and then Tyne Tees.

Did Granada used to have their own WOT, or did they share with Border or feature S4C?

I expect there's been similar changes elsewhere in the country as well

I got TV Times today for the first time since the new look and god its crap. Its gone so downmarket and 90p is a rip off. I only got it because of the Barbara Knox article on the last page.

At the moment im getting Whats on TV every week as I like the layout of that and it contains all we need to know for less than half the price of the TV Times. The soap section in WOT is good too.

Looks ok, Did ITV/Granada not run it a few years back or did I just dream that?

It used to be owned by ITV Publications (I think, though correct me if I'm wrong) which was sold off towards the end of the 1980's (They also produced Look In magazine), plus I think there was some deregulation at the turn of the 1990's which meant RT could publish ITV and C4 listings and TVT could publish BBC listings. This was also the time when other magazines started up, though the only ones that still survive to this day are TV Quick and What's On TV.
.

TV Times was owned by Independent Television Publications Limited, a jointly owned subsidary of the ITV companies (similar to pre-1993 ITN) until 1991, when it was sold to IPC.

Spare a thought for those of us here who prior to 1991 if we wanted full programme listings, needed to buy the RTÉ Guide, Radio TImes, and TV TImes... madness I tell you.

I guess then even the more expensive mags such as Radio Times / TV Times are cheaper now than the 50p we had to pay for each back then.

It's quite interesting to think how the mags would look today if they were still seperate.

I rather use DigiGuide. It much rather green and cheaper then buying TV mags.

The Granada edition of WOTV also carried listings for UTV, the only region to carry S4C variations was/is the Wales/West edition.

I suppose it makes sense to merge English versions of the main TV magazines, given that at least in England, the amount of ITV regional variations has sadly reduced. It also gives my old mates less work to do as well... Smile
