Must confess I'm finding it a tad annoying to keep having to go "home", then out again, in order to change from one forum to another.

It's nice when you're in The Lounge, as you stil have the drop down thing, top right, to go directly to a different forum.

Is it intended that the drop down jobby will return on here when the changes are complete, or will we have to set up favourites for each forum, as has been described?

Hover over the 'Forums' link at the top - you should see a menu allowing you to move from section to section.

That's roughly what I was expecting, given the way other sites' menus tend to work, but only "Home" and either "Login" or Logout" seem to do anything.

"Forums", "Your Membership", "Facilities" and "Help" turn yellow when I hover over them, but don't do anything if I then click.

Since when has everyone used Windows XP and *shudder* Internet Explorer? Confused

Sorry if I'm a bit boring, don't like cluttering up my computer with crap. One, simple browser's fine for me, I've always used IE and always will. By the sounds of it people with Opera (never heard of it) and Firefox are actually the ones with problems.

Thought I'd now reply. Firstly, thanks to those who have provided constructive comments, whether you've liked it or not! Best bet is bullet points:

  • Decided not to opt for the Archive look, just didn't think it was good enough in the end and prefer the blue!
  • TV Home Forum is this forum's title - I interchanged for so long as well but with the domain name, the site as a whole should be 'TV Forum'
  • I appreciate those automatically going top-right for the drop down box. It's been that way since day one so it'll probably take some getting used to after four odd years. But just think, it's one less click than before Very Happy
  • Many thanks to Hymagumba for taking the time to fix the bug - it was odd as the version of Firefox I have seemed to be forgiving!
  • Lack of middle-click, I can appreciate. As a result, they'll be a 'open in new window' mini icon (which you can use for tabs as well of course). Personally, I think the animation is a nice touch and brings something to a page that was very static. (I was going to have the left hand side ident image rotate every few seconds instead!)
  • Will look at the daily rotation problem. I rewrote a lot of the code for that page to try and speed it up.
  • The JavaScript files are a bit of a download but when done once, they should remain cached, along with the Flash anims
  • Stretch-o-vision will be fixed to fixed width
  • Opera? Bloody pain. Will look into it. I thought the script was Opera friendly Confused
  • PM system will change...eventually. Maybe I should have waited before launching the change but I was getting bored of having it hovering around on the PC and at least I could iron out the bugs and bits people don't like before spending time on other areas of the site.
  • Mix of designs - it is a bit. The crystals will go and the Flash anims will have the same colour as the header. I thought the diagonals were quite good personally - it's not like you saw much of them (unless on a big monitor!). Might change it to a shaded background or just fix the repeating problem.
  • Buggy Help design - has been sorted on my offline copy, ready for upload
  • Non-JS users. Hmmm...I haven't got that much time for them but I suppose I should accommodate!

I have absolutely no idea about your problem, Nick. I assume you're using a recent IE or Firefox and no-one else is having a problem so all I can say is clear out your Temporary Internet Files (or the JavaScript files related to this site) and try again.

It seems to have sorted itself out this morning, in conjunction with "Your Membership" changing to "Register" while you're not logged in.

Newer version?

More importantly: using Flash buttons for basic navigation links? That is just plain wrong.

The Flash animations will automatically revert to static images that can be clicked on if the user doesn't have/can't have Flash installed. Some of the computers at college for whatever reason don't have Flash installed and as per usual it's locked down to hell and back.

Although the major flaw wih not having Flash installed on some of the computers is that some bright spark thought it'd be a good idea to write the entire intranet in Flash. And so, we can't access that on certain computers. Rolling Eyes

Plus, I loathe completely Flash based websites. They often have loads of pointless fancy animation which wastes time when trying to get to the information you need and it's difficult to print the contents.
