Sky One and Two's make some sense (the three letters encircling each other to encase the 'o') but the concept is completely lost on Sky Three. For starters the name contains no 'o's so the 'encircling the o' concept is immediately void. 'Three' contains five letters, not three, so only 'ree' is seen in the ident which makes no sense whatsoever.

Sky Two's is my favourite but I'm very unsure about the soundtrack.

They've moved the Sky 1 and 2 DOGs out of the safe zone (not before time), although not the Sky 3 one.

Somewhat ironic then that they see fit to move the Sky 1 HD logo into the safe area (when it is completely unnecessary since there are effectively no 4:3 HD TVs).

What strange decisions these TV execs make Laughing

Also very strange that the Sky One and Two DOGs seem to have been made 14:9 safe, but not 4:3 safe, given Sky Digiboxes (the only way to view those channels) don't have a 14:9 option.

Sky Three on the other hand can be viewed in 14:9 on many Freeview boxes, but the DOG remains in the 4:3 zone.

They're a bit clinical but better than what they had before. Nice to see random glossy CGI idents can still exist in this day and age along with decent live announcements too.

Also last night caught a simple but nice cross channel promotion saying what's on each channel

Yep, just caught that - looks very nice, arguably better than the BBC cross promotion sequence.

Would be a very short argument - that's a million time better. Very nice!

But Jonny, if you think back to the original Sky Three ident the word "three" would still roll out of a circle. They've still used all the curved bits of the logo within the circle, it's just some are used more than once if it were to be fully formed as before. As for the straight bits, well they just used to appear from nowhere anyway! Wink

Anyway, logos just have to represent something, and they've done the job in a style that matches all 3 channels.

I'm sure Sky Two probably has a sequence similar to the others. You only get slean idents in the middle of the night; I'll have to pick a couple of programmes to record later tonight to see if one turns up.

Oh, that's different to the one I saw, which just had the rotating circles changing colour with the Sky One, then Sky Two and finally Sky Three logo in the middle, which though much simpler possible looked better than with the pics and menu.

After lots of complaints from HD viewers, the Sky One HD DOG has gone back to more or less it's old position and size. Very Happy

Completely off topic I know, but I'm wondering what bitrate and resolution does is Sky One, Two and Three on DSat? I'm glad they've reduced the DOG size on HD and made it more transparent.

Not sure if it's a new thing but every time I'm channel hopping and go past Sky Three they seem to have REPLAY under the DOG.

Is it really necessary to highlight the fact the channel is built on repeats and holiday shopping programmes.

That's never made sense to me - on any channel. I think these sub dogs should be banned - or at least is used confined simply to "New" rather than "Brand New and exclusive and never seen before, well not in the UK anyway, but will be repeated 36 times in the next week".
