Just ben looking at this on Digital Spy:

The Salon, Friends, Bewitched and Everybody Loves Raymond will all feature in Channel 4's new 'morning block' of programmes, Digital Spy can confirm.

The lineup will begin on January 5 as a replacement for RI:SE, which will air for the final time on December 19.

The Salon has been extended through the first few months of 2003; the new series will begin after a two-week Christmas break. New episodes will still air daily at 6pm, with repeats airing in the morning block at 7am.

Long-running comedy Friends will occupy the 7.30am slot, followed at 8am by a similarly popular US comedy Everybody Loves Raymond.

Bewitched moves half an hour forward to 8.30am; no replacement for it the 9am slot has yet been decided.

There is still a possibility that presenters could be brought in to front links between the shows after C4 chief Mark Thompson commented that he hoped the block would retain "a live flavour."

Quite interesting.

I think we all had an idea that it would be just shows and not a live 2 hour show. So if the Salon is on in the mornings what will be on at 6pm? ...oh yeah, The Salon again, just read it. As for Friends, well its never off E4, so I'm sure Channel 4 will show the same episodes again and again etc.
As for B*Witched, well thats good. I think Channel 4 should have more classic stuff on in the mornings!!

It says that theres a possibility that presenters could be brought in to front links between the shows, but to be honest, if 4 have new morning idents/breakbumpers/presentation etc betwen 7 and 9, I think that would look good too. Have it a bit like Daytime with its own look, away from the 'Normal' channel 4 look for when other programs are on! Maybe have a dog with a clock for the first 2 hours of the day??

What do others think about this??

Channel 4 have shown Bewitched (what's with the *? That was the band) every morning at 9am for at least a year! Something new would be nice... as for Friends, well everyone loves Friends re-runs. Most days over Christmas they're showing four episodes back to back.

Only a year! It's been alternating with I Dream of Jeannie for 5/6 years! These current Bewitched episodes havent been shown though, as they were originally black and white, and have been colourised.

Was Bewitched ever REALLY in colour, or were all the original episodes black and white, and have they all been "colourized"?

The first 2 seasons of bewitched were B&W, the rest were colour. Sadly, someone had the bright idea of colourising the Black & White episodes. I'd personally prefer it if they were shown B & W.

How do you go about colourizing a black and white programme. A still I can understand, but with moving objects.

And T4 have started showing trailers for christmas mornings, starting from next week at 8:50. Wont this run into RI:SE time next week. The following weeks I can understand as they are showing films.

I think they're showing them early in error, since it's still Bewitched double bills at 9:00 next week.

A B+W picture is made up not just of B+W, but of lots of different shdes of grey. Even in Adobe Premiere, you can select a colour (or a shade of grey) and assign a new colour to replace it, so it's probably really easy to do on pro software. It'd take a while to work out what colour each shade of grey was supposed to be tho Smile

I've had the weirdest sense of de ja vu reading this thread, I'm surprised I havn't found a post from myself explaining the above.

I realise that 4-Tel may be no more but I suppose this means a 2-hour block of its replacement, Teletext on 4, is out of the question... Twisted Evil

How unimaginitive. At least bring back the C4 Daily.

SImon, are you seriously suggesting you would rather watch Pages from Teletext on 4 when you're getting ready for work than a TV programme?

I must admit that I dislike US comedy, so the line-up doesn't really appeal to me either.

I would hardly describe the scheduling of 2 hours of teletext as imaginative.

Simon, you need to speak with someone professional (be it a psychologist or a prostitute) soon.
