I smell bullsh*t. ITV are hellbent on dumbing everything down. Why would they suddenly decide to give 'This Morning' - of all shows - a "journalistic edge".?
I think someone must have got their wires crossed!
Maybe they meant the Lunchtime News was going to get a "journalistic edge"
I agree that This Morning is fine as it is. The story came from Broadcast who are usually pretty good with their editorial. The changes are apparently being brought in by a new editor who has been brought in to replace Debra Davidson. It definately said about a jounalistic edge cause I remember reading the same thing about 4 times to make sure I read it right.
...plus the regional bit will be slightly longer than it used to be.
I suppose that'll be to compensate for the shorter lunchtime regional bulletin, but without re-instating the old mid-afternooner.
Kind of - although it'll only be a little longer. Lunch is going down from 15ish to 7 minutes, whereas morning is going up from 6ish to 7...so hardly a major increase! In turn the lunchtime news regional increase 18 months ago didn't entirely offset the loss of the afternoon bulletin. A real shame the way regional news is going...
I used to find the afternoon bulletin a bit too long, especially as the national update was about 1 minute long
They often covered the entire news agenda of the 6pm programme at 3pm. You don't need any longer than 5-6 minutes really
At Lunchtimes, in the case of Calendar they often show many of the feature items, such as the Consumer section and the Entertainment guide, that are then repeated on the main programme, so it's not as if the full 10 mins is all news
11.10am does seem an odd time for the morning news, however I guess they wanted it a bit later due to the ITV Lunchtime news being so late.
The lunchtime news did drag on a bit at 15 minutes however HTV show stuff like Crimestoppers during the bulletin so I dont know where that will go now.
