After watching it again on YouTube, this is my opinion of things:
John Suchet was a bit slow off the mark to start with, but really got into the spirit of things from the 4 in a row round. He will improve with time.
The titles are rather naff, and so is the re-recorded theme tune, but at least it has a little bit more oomph than the old tune.
The Head to Head final was a bit of an anticlimax. I much preferred the old format of first to nine. Why fix something that wasn't broken in the first place?
The constant interruptions for phone in competitions - got on my nerves big time.
It was nice to hear that the buzzer sound had remained, but was disappointed with the background music during the Head to Head round.
Finally, the graphics were obviously designed by Farheem_Ali. They were cheap and tacky, and not suitable for a quiz show like Going for Gold.
In my honest opinion, they should have brought back One to Win instead of this new version, at least it had an authoratative look to it.

It's only Channel 5/five/FIVE, and their programming isn't renowned for being original, so your surprise at them resurrecting a tired old game show is hardly justified, Mr cylon!
I'm not surprised, it's just that the programme was crap and tacky when it was on the BBC. So when people say the new version is crap compared to the original, I'm thinking that I must have missed that one edition with Henry Kelly when he was genuinely witty and the European contestants weren't embarrassingly naff. As opposed to the hundreds of editions when Kelly was as boring as paint and the contestants looked like acts from a freakshow.

I just thought John didn't seem right for the show. He's a bit too gentle if that makes sense. And the canned (or seemingly canned) audience is a bit irritating. Nevertheless, the theme tune and buzzer noise making a comeback was amazing.

Going For Gold is getting better, but how many times does John Suchet have to repeat the viewers' question! It would be far better if he says the question once, and if somebody who wants to phone in, misses it.. hard luck. But I suppose John has to fill in the time somehow.
Also, Going For Gold might work as an evening quiz show, I think. Maybe putting it on after the AWFUL Five News At 7.

It really is starting to p*ss me off how he spends literally about 5 minutes going on about the questions... "Let me just read that to you again".. It's on the screen John!!!
