I like it, as some have said, retro looking, and I do agree with the more entertaining look to it than the current. I'm wondering if they'll play on the idea of circles in the way that they have played on the cursor with the fiver logo.
Though an ident based on that billboard graphic would be different, and good.

It's true that we can't really make a judgement on the overall look based on a logo alone. But, looking at just the logo here, aesthetically I'm not sure whether I like it.
On the whole it reminds me of a sticker. It certainly has more character than the current type.
I agree with the comment about a numeral '5' - I think that would be nice to see again in the future. It just seemed to work better, IMHO.

Interesting that they've gone for a circle motif again. As was said above, perhaps a bid of a nod to the original logo. Nice also to see someone realise that you don't have to have lettering in lowercase. Are graphic designers finally starting to move away from the daft concept that uppercase is 'unfriendly' and 'overly authorative' then?
That said, the basic concept of a text-only symbol its still just as overly simplistic and samey just like all branding these days. Would be nice to see someone actually design an icon-based symbol again, but then I suppose C5 were never going to be the ones to buck the trend.
Certainly no worse than 'five', but I wouldn't say its any better.
Now, just how are C5 going to promote this new beast of theirs then? How about 'five is a name. FIVE is a brand'?

I like the new Five logo, it's a improvement on the current one which was very basic as was most of the promos which looked more like Powerpoint presentation. Five have been doing promos recently that suited the shows that were promoting for Axe Men, Superstars and Unbreakable.
Five seem be going the Channel 4 route of having logos and branding that are unique to the channels as both Fiver and the VoD service Demand Five have logos which differ from each other. I reckon the Five US rebrand will be announced on the same day as the Five rebrand which is fairly soon.
