i noticed a change in theme in the promo, but didn't realise the signature tune had almost completely disappeared. They've tried it before, but the classic has always returned.
That sounds like the theme tune for a really bad Australian police drama.
I agree, I don't think it really suits the programme either. It quite often handles dark subject matter and I don't think this theme is suitable for such occassions personally.
I really don't understand why everything has to be changed these days. Is Crimewatch really the sort of programme that needs to update its image to stay fresh? I think not.
What's the reckoning that this theme will be dropped/changed next month?
It sounds just like the BBC gave a 15 year old a Casio kiddies keyboard and told them to come up with a theme. Then someone has come along and put a drum and bass beat over the top of it.
Awful! Awful! Awful!
Why change it if it ain't broken? I really don't know how or why the BBC justifies spending licence fee money on revamping itself all the damn time. Crimewatch looked far better last month - now it just looks like Newsnight and sounds like a 1980s US cop drama!
I'm sure I'll be in the minority when I say I like the new theme. It gives a real sense of urgency, and retains something that was lost when 999 left (think sirens).
Although I don't like the lack of screen on the closing (that fab shot of the end cap on the plasma) and why are there 2 random pillars in the middle of the floor with water coolers next to them?
The second "How it all began" page on the site disagrees with all of us, though, referring to the programme several times as "Criminated UK". What's that about?!
the theme sounds like the old theme backwards in some parts, and what's with all those steps and stages, i can see somebody falling off them as they are very narrow
the only thing to stay is the nick saying don't have nightmares, we will and it's not because of the crimes it's because of the awful set
