Some EXCITING NEWS! We can now confirm that we have signed a deal for some unseen footage of Takeshi's Castle and are currently making it into some new shows! They will be with you early next year Smile

Ah but who will be narrating? Ninja Warrior had a change, will this?

A fairly abrupt edit today on Bob's Full House after the question "What does an Arab man traditionally have to say three times to divorce his wife?". Probably a joke which would today be construed as racist.

In the Bullseye Christmas special the other night, there was a joke Jim Bowen made roughly along the lines of Why do you always see Jimmy Savile running, in relation to what the contestant had just said, and that wasn't edited out. Surprised

I suspect if it the programme was acquired (and went through compliance checks now) it would be. As it is, it'll be in the playout system and nobody would have noticed.

Apparently an episode from Series one of Supermarket Sweep was deemed unsuitable.

We had to drop an episode due to it's content that we couldn't play any more so we only broadcast 74 episodes in total
I wonder what was wrong with it.

Probably just a question whose answer has been rendered incorrect due to changes in the history books (for example, a Jimmy Savile or OJ Simpson problem, where a celebrity has been revealed as a villain), or changed science (such as Pluto no longer being considered a planet).

Channel 4 were apologising on Twitter the other day after playing out a Come Dine With Me repeat where a contestant dressed up as Jimmy Savile. Stuff can slip through at any broadcaster.

I don't think it will be down to answers now being incorrect - how are they going to check that anyway? It will be down to possible compliance issues, such as mentioning a particular person, featuring a particular person, or content that may now be considered offensive.

It's definitely not to do with answers no longer being correct, for an example there was a question in Wipeout (Paul Daniels' era) which asked to identify best selling weekly publications - I'm pretty sure Beano and The Dandy would no longer feature!
