Last night's Bullseye had the most viewing figures according to their twitter page. I hope this convinces them to make another series but slightly better than the 2006 attempt. 201K viewers is the exact amount.

What was wrong with the 2006 version? I don't see how they could have done it much differently.

I have no issue with it myself, but I'm assuming whatever negativity it got was because of Dave Spikey. It's hard to replace a host who's hosted the same show for 14 years.

where to start:

* Lack of whitegoods on the bully prize broad, the pries in jim series were crap but you could still have won a few VERY useful things:

* What happened to the drumroll music on 101 gamble

* There was also some other things that needed polishing off. Hopeful if challenge makes a 2nd series of BB there will not play the muisc into the second game!

So in short, minor things.

I thought Dave Spikey did a good enough job, he took the mick out of the format to an extent but it's hard to see how you couldn't.

But then again, Blockbusters has been off the air since 1994 and look at the success it has had with Simon Mayo. Could it have been that Virgin aren't very good at recreating gameshows, whereas Sky in today's terms are?

Well for a start it was Thames and ITV productions who made those programmes. I think it's the case that Blockbusters is a bit was always serious and it's less necessary to make fun of the format, Bullseye less so.

Surely the fact that Challenge is now on Freeview is why Blockbusters has done so much better than Bullseye did on its revival?

Are you saying crosspromotion during TNA is responsible? I'd have thought TNA's audience is rather different from the audience Challenge gets most of the time.

I personally feel that the Bullseye remake was a better product than the recent Blockbusters effort. To be brutally honest though, I don't see why either really need a remake. There are hundreds of episodes of each and I'd imagine the costs involved in creating 1 new episode could acquire the rights to a couple of series of the proper series.

There are some programmes which could justify a new series:
> The Crystal Maze
> Interceptor
> Fort Boyard

All that's needed is a bit of ambition (read: budget) and I'm sure they'd work. Unlike Blockbusters and Bullseye, these aren't products of a particular time; they work on a level beyond nostalgia.

The 2003 series of Fort Boyard fell just a bit short because they didn't scrape together the pennies for Melinda Messenger.

I disagree.

All good formats, but I think a new modern imagining of the concepts behind those programmes would be much better than bringing them back. I don't particularily like this current trend of making new copies of old programmes. I'd much rather the producers decided to take the good bits (Crystal Maze - multi leveled, varied, challenging games) and dropped the bad bits (leaping around in a plastic cupboard for an eternity with no idea of how well / bad you're doing as a finale) and came up with new shows.

And whatever they do, don't invite the celebs on to take the contestant places. Mad

This I'd be equally happy with.
