With all the talk of Family Fortunes I just thought I'd mention the sad passing of the original host of the US version, the British-born Richard Dawson whom this programme was pretty much built for and around. An excellent host, one of the legends in the US, and one of the last surviving links to the Goodson-Todman empire from whom so many of the best gameshows came.
I was flicking through the channels and noticed that. Who says that it's only in the last few years that shows are biased towards celebrity! I was surprised it was from 1983 - thought it might have been a little bit later. For the first time I also noticed a strong similarity between the Family Fortunes set and the Bullseye set of the time - they were both made at Lenton Lane weren't they?

I believe Bully was made at Brum until the late 80s

Not until after the hiatus (when Les started).
The first Les series had a colour scoreboard - does anybody know if they actually replaced this the following series or just restricted its colour palette back to black and yellow?

The old gamebroad was brought back.
Are you sure though? The pixel density/dots per square/whatever seems higher in the Les series - certainly the font was changed.
Talking about the board, it was quite funny that one of the segments (7 from the left and 2 from the bottom) was broken today. It meant the first character in answer 8 didn't appear, so we got answers like hirt (shirt), easel (weasel) and cratching (scratching).
Luckily it wasn't one of the more used segments. You only really saw the problem when there were 8 answers and when they used the horizontal wipe effect to clear the board. Looks like the credits were either taken from another episode or done later as the problem didn't occur during them, we also didn't see the top of anyones head either.

During the previous series, Bob Monkhouse stated that the show, or his run at least, was made at Elstree. Lenton Lane wasn't opened until 1984.

Not the same board I believe, but still a dot-matrix effect style board as used previously.
The 1987 Les Dennis board was about as ugly as it could have possibly become. Thank goodness it was reverted quickly.
Thanks for the info re: Lenton Lane - must admit I'm a bit rusty on the history although I have had a brief look at the information on Transdiffusion and was surprised to read that both Blockbusters and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet started life at Elstree before being moved to Lenton Lane once it had opened.
However, it appears only Max Bygraves first series was made at Elstree with the second onwards being made at Lenton Lane. When the show was rested, it was then made at Broad Street for three series with Les Dennis before moving back to Lenton Lane so it's certainly been on the move a few times.

The celeb episode on tonight was also made at Lenton Lane -- Max mentioned it.

Wasn't it just a matrix screen, much like what is used to give messages above motorway roads?
