Alan Evans just threw a 401 in the charity throw on Bullseye. This goes against the commonly held view that the highest ever score was 380!

Interesting. There is a bit of debate on ukgameshows.com about this too. They claim (via a reader's correspondence) that the sixth dart fell out of the board. Watching this episode today reveals that it was only the flight that fell off the board, so the score stands at 401 or £802 for charity in my view. It was before Bronze Bully was introduced though, so if someone tells you the highest ever bronze bully throw was 380 they may well be correct.

Didn't the Bronze bully appear from S5?

Series 5, yes. Bullseye went through bucketloads of changes between 1984 and 1986, including dumping those horrible orange target things that are hanging around the set in the current 1984 runs and stopping the celebrity throws, which were more of a gimmick than anything else IMO.

The entire 401 thing is strange, because the 380 figure appears to have been sourced from the Gameshow Marathons, which basically used what became the Challenge 2006 theme on the original "Bully on a Bus" titles, not the remade version used on Challenge so as far could be argued it's hardly a definitive authority on anything. It was probably never clear on Marathons that the 380 figure only applied from Bronze Bully onwards, which may have been all the researchers had access to.

Anyway a high score on the nine dart throw is a high score on the nine dart throw, regardless of whether it happened on the first episode or the last episode. However the viewing angles in the 1984 run isn't particularly brilliant, and it wouldn't be the first time the charity throw end result doesn't quite match up with what went on on screen.

Challenge [TV] are currently showing a post Christmas episode of Bullseye. The decorations are still up and Bowen wished us a happy belated Christmas at the top of the show. The episode at 20:30 is meant to be a pre-Christmas episode and the episode shown tomorrow is the Christmas episode (just one episode tomorrow, it's an hour long special).

I can't help thinking it would have been better to show just one episode tonight so that the episodes are kept in the correct order.

EDIT: Wow! The ending of the 20:00 episode was fantastic. If you didn't see it, make sure you watch Challenge+1 from about 21:25.

Just seen it on +1, fantastic, carribbean bullseye, nice because I was expecting a bit of mid 80s christmas cheese.

Was this probably the first time that the star prize was a holiday? As prior to this they were only giving away cars, boats and caravans....

Christmas Bullseye is okay so far. It will be hard to better yesterdays first episode though. The celebrities are Crossroad's Cathy Staff, Mastermind 1984 winner Margaret Harris and Saturday Starship's Tommy Boyd.

The bad news is, Challenge [TV] have put their own breaks in and they haven't got any better at it. Very poorly done. How many breaks would this have had when it was first shown?

At the beginning of the programme for some reason there were only two chairs for the three dart players. A man had to bring out an extra chair. This may sound like something they did as a joke but I am not so sure. No reference was made to it, it just happened in the background and the man carrying the chair looked quite embarrassed.

It was K athy Staff, probably better known as Nora Batty from Last of the Summer Wine.

No apostrophe in Crossroads. Kathy with a K, not a C.

I think the clue was in the narrative. The episode only seemed to run for about 45 minutes.

Noted.

Yes, now that I have seen the whole episode it seems it only had one original break and two Challenge [TV] added breaks. Challenge [TV] even made a mess of the original break, despite the fact that it didn't need changing. Rather than let the original End of Part One sting play, they replaced it with part of the opening titles like they did with the two extra breaks. I imagine this was so we didn't see an End of Part One slide when it was actually the end of part two. That is really petty, it reminds me of channels cutting the presenter off at the end of a programme because they say "See you next week" but the next episode isn't on the following week, something that Challenge [TV] have also been guilty of in the past.

Interesting. I'm sure this happened in a later episode and Bowen said it was the first time it had ever happened. This is not the first time Bowen has lied/been mistaken though.

Jokes:
Bullseye? More like Bulls**t.
Bully's Star Prize? More like Bully Star Lies.
Jim Bowen? More like Jim Massive Fibber.

I bet this never happened either...

Or this...

Bowen must hate Challenge [TV] repeating Bullseye. All his lies are coming back to bite him.
