Why do you watch Challenge with AD?

AD is great. It explains the jokes for me and allows me to 'watch' something without using my eyes.

Challenge TV is great, But I think it just needs new content produced after 9pm. The only thing new is the wresting Very Happy

New content on Challenge generally goes in at 8pm weekdays.

Challenge's commissions haven't been great though, generally. Defectors was under-rated and Fort Boyard was great (in some ways better than Channel 5's version - Tom Baker particularly), but apart from that they're barely OK really.

There's archives of great, cheap programmes out there and I think their money is better spent securing these.

I was watching Winning Lines on Challenge the other day. Viewers who aren't aware that it used to be National Lottery: Winning Lines will be left wondering what is going on. The cuts are fast and furious, especially the intro and the goodbye

It's pretty awful isn't it? Trying to wedge the whole thing into a commercial TV half hour I.e. 23 mins, it's like a clip show.

It's okay once it gets going. I don't know why they bother with the closing 3 seconds, frankly.

I think it could have been better edited than it is now though. Of course each 'Pip' episode can be extended to 40 minutes by adding the Wednesday follow up episode where the winner of the Saturday programmes gets to play the Wonderwall again to win spending money.

Would get a bit repetitive though, exactly the same game twice...

The Chase has the same game four times in a row, nobody seems to complain about that.

The second Wonderwall isn't exactly the same as it doesn't have any pit stops.

Although UK Gameshows says this...
Quote:
During the Schofield series, the winner of each edition got to return for the midweek Lottery draw on Wednesday and contest the Wonderwall again for spending money. Each correct answer was worth £200, so the contestant could win up to £4,000. The only sting was that this time there were no "pitstops".

I thought that only happened for one series. If that was the case the one series would need a different length slot to the rest of the series and it might be an awkward edit. It would also just feel a bit odd it makes sense on the Chase as it's the same round with different people.

I see the early voice over problem is back on Challenge, at least on Catchphrase anyway. The voice comes in while Mr. Walker is still speaking and then interrupts itself to start again just as the credits start. It means we miss Roy Walker's last joke.

Catchphrase is repetitive until the Super Catchphrase. Play Your Cards Right is the same game over and over again. In It to Win It is question after question after question... You get my point. Game shows are technically repetitive in general. I still like them, though.

3 distinct rounds followed by (more or less) a repeat of the last. It would also mean the 'grand prize' would be given before the 'nice to have prize' unless they further hacked up the programme. There'd be glaring continuity errors either way too.
