James - sorry that is less common now than it once was - though still done to an extent.

Quite a large number of videos made for the UK, though still shot on film, are now telecined to 16:9 video for post production in 16:9.

Many broadcasters (such as the BBC and ITV) prefer to get material on 16:9, as this is increasingly the more common format for transmission (I know - I have seen quite a number arrive in this ratio, and the Box/Smash Hits occasionally forget to ARC
them back to 4:3!). It is also increasingly likely that DVD releases are going to be in 16:9 - though admittedly not all music videos released on DVD are yet in this format.

(Often the film is transferred to 16:9 VT at a more extreme aspect
ratio than 16:9 - giving letterbox bars even in 16:9)

I got to see the new look this morning (after having seen a screenshot at the start of this topic). It actually looks OK!

Mark, clearly the concept of a forum has bypassed you.

It requires you to actively take part, play a role, have a debate. Can you do that for us?

I like the new scroll, and the break bumpers rule, but the main title text is odd... it doesn't cater well for longer band names/song titles. Box now uses the graphics method used on Q, Smash Hits, Kerrang and Magic, leaving Kiss as the only one still using the previous format.

Has Kiss got the same owner? Confused

All six of the selector music channels (named in my previous post) are run by Emap.
