Maybe they will, and maybe they won't. Perhaps they're wanting to keep it a secret and not ruin any surprises!!

True but I found out what was happening on this site for LWT's last day of old style presentation they even gave us the times so I had the tape ready. It'd be nice to know which junctions to look out for. Also the regions are better about playing idents in full and saying goodbye to them rather than Network. Because I'm in London I get Network so miss out on all of the tributes. Crying or Very sad

I'm not sure if Haka or Tai Chi Rotation are allowed to be played.

Why are these two not allowed to be played Paul? I know moany viewers cost us Tai Chi reflection but what's the problem with Haka?

If you have satellite you could always record BBC One NI - channel 973. They've got a later close than network tonight anyway.

As for Haka, I believe there is an issue with the rights for the music on it.

Well, since it wasn't to do with any viewer complaints, I'd guess it's shelved for a legal reason of some sort. Maybe the Maori folks that chanted in the ident can clue you in!

Oh yes of course!! I'm an imbecile. Thanks for reminding me.

Something confuses me. I thought that the BBC commisioned the idents and the music so what would be the problem?

The same thing happened I think with tumbler which is why the old music only lasted a day. I'm glad it did though because it was awful and we were subjected to it for every link that evening!! AAAAAARRRGGHHH!!

music isn't only the actual music that you hear. If an ident or a trail has any other sound on it, then that may go out of copyright meaning that the whole piece is not able to be broadcast any more. So with Haka, it might be the actual chant that you hear that they are not allowed to use any more.

Isn't the music on Haka almost exactly the same as on Ballet?

Interestingly the music for the new BBC1 idents will be fine to use and Imran Hanif who composed the music will get a fee from the Performing Rights Society everytime they are played. Is this standard practice for music to most TV idents thathas been especially composed? I know the guy that did the Channel 4 music for the original '4' idents was paid everytime it was used.

Continuing the theme, CBBC just finished with Forever & a Day playing in the background! They really are going for it today aren't they?
