One thing that I was wondering about is whether or not they will be using stings based on the new idents. The balloon era was "richer" for the variety of stings and the dancer era somewhat weaker. Stings would be great for the channel based on the circles idea.

You're absolutely right there.

I think it's great to have stings, they 'beef up' the channel's pres; and if completely separate from ident scenarios or locations (as was the case with BBC1 & BBC2's 90's stings) it can be a nice way of taking the concept into new styles and be adventurous with the shorts and giving the channel that extra injection of character.

Perhaps this is the point I was edging towards... you wouldn't commission anything. Nothing would change. Change bad. All things new bad. Even before they have aired, they are bad. Go back. Go back.

Excellent DAS - you're catching on a treat!

Some how it reminds me of BBC Regional news.

Can see this being used, and the existing shutters being replaced by a circle effect similar to the one that reveals the logo on the idents.

It would look better with the text under the one rather than above it IMO.

I can imagine the circles animating on to capture an image from the programme in a circle in the centre, then the logo animating on over it.

I dont know if this has been mentioned or not - but on the new idents - where does the words "wales" "scotland" "NI" go???

Under the ONE? - will the regional names be in very small letters like ITV1?

Apparently it will go under the one. I'm sure the nations will get specially branded idents, but I'm wondering if the English regions will actually get branded idents at all this time. Since all regional news now follows directly from the news, there isn't a regional junction any more which leads into a regional programme, and so is there any point in regional idents existing any more?

Which idents do you think will be used for introducing the news then? At the moment there's Skateboards, Caporia and Tai Chi.

Will they just have a plain red ident with the logo perhaps?

Why do I get the feeling this so-called "custom font" is so close to one that's already in the public domain. A strange hybrid of Corinthian and Johnston Underground spring to mind. Remember, the BBC can only do this because of the unique way they are funded. By us.

What's that got to do with it, ITV and C4 both had custom fonts made by the same company, hardly unique.

Oh and Gill Sans was based on Johnston Underground!

The organisation is called the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation, and the dancers were so obsessed with inclusivity they seemed to lose sight of this.

But Britain is an inclusive society, in that respect they fit the BBC perfectly!
