yes - i agree about the crappy ending on the football one, every single kick is the same ( arm movements and all) so obvously not real

Is it me, or do these just look like ITV1s idents, but with higher production values?

As a bit of an ident anorak - I think these are awful. Though I must admit I do like the new BBC ONE font. Maybe they will use the same for each channel (ie the same but ONE will read TWO or Three etc)?

it gives BBC one a real indivituality and it stands out from most other channels.

I disagree. While they are a nice set of idents they don't particularly stand out and don't have the individuality BBC1 idents should have.

Thing is, you're all very quick to criticize the idents, but from what I've seen in the Mock forum, not one single person on this website has come up with anything visual or descriptive that is even close to being an original and captivating TV ident!

Maybe because they haven't been paid £1.2m to come up with anything?

The only way you're going to impress 95 per cent of the people on this forum with tv presentation is if you get a few failed actresses with frilly blouses or dogdy looking men with stripey jumpers, stick them in front of a blue board with a naff 1970s logo and get them to read out of a tv listings magazine. Ah, now that WAS proper presentation.
People saying "I hat these new idents", "they have no impact" is simply so stupid when only one has been seen in its entirety, noone knows how they're going to fit in with the rest of the channel's presentation and they've not had time to bed down. Grrrrrrr.

Perhaps Woody & JCB would like to tell us what they think the idents should be then... or are their groundbreaking ideas only available for a fee?

The mocks forum isn't Red Bee Media. I think Red Bee has the capability to do a lot more and be more creative than they did with these idents, though. I've seen them do better things.

I may have misread, but it says on one of the articles posted that these new idents are expected to get shown 14,000 times in their lifetime, compared to the dancers' 43,000 airings. Does this mean they're not expected to last even half as long, will they use something else alongside the idents, such as menus into certain programmes, or possibly the more likely option, they'll add to the family in time?

I can only view that WMV file as far as the end of the ring-a-roses ident, then it cuts off. Anyone who could convert it to something else and upload it would be greatly appreciated!

The football ident is poor!! I dont watch many sport programmes so hope this is only used before sport so i dont have to see it!!

The moon one is not much cop either!! Hope this goes the same way a Ballet, gets used for the first few weeks, then goes into hiding forever (unless the queen dies).

Which Ident will be used before the news?? When the dancers first launched, the regions only used Acrobats?? Which one will the regions get this time for use before the news, anyone know yet???

Does the little tune they've got going remind anyone else of Channel Five's ident jingles? It's quite similar.

Chances are they might be able to, but chances are they would cost more too. The BBC has to strike the right balance between getting an interesting (if not groundbreaking) set of idents, whilst not spending a fortune on them.

The new set have clearly had a lot of time, effort & thought put into them - infinately more so than a camera set-up in a field recording a bunch of morons jumping up and down whilst someone shines a red torch on them....

They may not be perfect in some people's eyes, but then I guess these people will never be satisfied.

I see Kites has come off as quite popular - but I find the logo reveal shot looks really nasty.
However, I am in love with the moon ident - it has a nice borderline surrealism without being as silly as Hippos.
