Doctor Who has and Robin Hood will reinvigorate Saturday nights. The new lottery quiz "1 v 100" is largely regarded as the most promising global quiz format since Deal or No Deal. Strictly Come Dancing has brought hte masses back to Saturday night across the generations from kids to OAPs.
I think the BBC have revolutionised their Saturday nights in the last two years and your comments are way out of date.
I would also like to open the betting on complaints from Oct 7th from viewers feeling disorientated by the "spinning" of the logo.
I believe this is why the Tai Chi ident hasn't been turning over for a few months now.
Pathetic viewers.
You're right.
I really like the look of them, but I can tell that the Scottish National Party will spin out their usual "None of them were filmed in Scotland so the BBC hates Scotland" press release. Blatently untrue, but they'll do it.
While my final judgment will be based on how the camerawork and sound comes together, this idea definitely shows more promise than the dancers, but I don't think this is anywhere close to the standard of the balloon concept. Is this the first time where BBC ONE have had live action idents in their starting set, which are not all shot in the UK?
Not sure on the logo. I think keeping it all in Gill Sans would have been just fine, really.
Looking at the Bikers video, I do hope there are short versions of the idents so as to not have the long camera angle cuts; I'm not entirely against this style for opening shots, but I'm not all that keen on the way it is done here; would prefer it a bit less busy. Soundtrack sadly doesn't seem very spectacular, but I'll be happy if they are all tied in with a similar jingle of sorts.
On stills alone, Kites and Moon look interesting. This look is perfect for a clock, but I don't see one appearing.

I think the moon one could be quite stunning and the hippo looks like an absolute laugh. It'll have people saying ahh, as opposed to AAARRGGGHHH with the dancers.
But I will miss the woman in Tango with the legs up to her earlobes.
not envolvement, but
evolution
Also it would look weird to have two different logos appearing on BBC One, so they use the old logo (obviously a last minute addon to the Robin Hood Trails) which would then be replaced by the new logo when the new look launches.
All Promos being made now, would have old look and new look versions, so on Oct 7th they flick the switch, and the old look is gone, and new look is in.
It will be interesting seeing how the new logo is advertised along side the box logos in the transitionary period.
All trails are made clean of voice over and graphics and then versionsed as needed.
Only the trails that are needed after-6am on the 7/10 will be versioned with new branding (eg 'Robin Hood, Tonight') any that are needed both before and after (i.e. advertising something on Monday 9th) will have 2 versions. There's no 'flicking switches' or 'last minute add-ons'... they just don't schedule the new branded ones!
