I stand corrected....

BTW - does anyone know if one of these new idents will be reserved for "periods of national reflection" like Ballet was?

You were right, though. The dancers will have been around longer than the balloons by 07-October.

If the dancers and balloon idents were to have had an equal length of time on TV, the new idents should have launched last Saturday, giving both the balloons and dancers 1,638 days on-air.

If we take 1,645 days as being the mean average, we can expect new idents on BBC One on the morning of Saturday, 9th April 2011. Wink

What one do you think will be shown before the news (judging by the screenshots we have)? Moon?

A soft, moving red background?

I think a countdown makes perfect sense for harmonisation with News 24.

It would look rather funky in the middle of the circle (i.e. displacing the BBC one logo before the news).

Well I'm not disappointed with my first look at these. They look professional, well made and modern and give something quite different to the dancers we have been used to. I have always thought there needs to be a simple design in all the idents and the circle theme is definitely the sort of thing I wanted. It's simple yet versatile.
I do have to agree that the flowers one does look incredibly like something that Sky One would come up with but still can work.
I'm not keen on Windows at the moment but I'm sure it will grow on me.

Obviously Moon can only be played out at night and early morning and I suspect that Kites will be the 'news and serious programming ident'. I don't however think we will have a Ballet style ident as of yet because we are instantly cut down to just seven daytime idents with the loss of moon.

So the video recorders and capture cards will be set for 10.00 on Saturday 7th October into Saturday Kitchen (baring in mind there's no ident for Saturday Breakfast) and the final dancer ident being the night before into N24. I wonder how the dancers will leave us and the circles begin?

All those pages and pages of guess the saturday night schedule was pretty worthless then wasn't it Laughing

Due to the axing of most showings of the regional idents we won't get to see the regional branded version until 12pm Sunday and then again at 1pm Monday, although viewers in the North may have an opt out on Saturday night!

I suspect it'll be the same as the nations (which will be shown at launch I'm presuming).

It's so annoying being at work I can't watch the ident.

Even more annoying being stuck at work all day without internet access at all! All I've had to go on was Steve Wright's description of the new idents, which made them sound distinctly unpromising (computer-generated hippos?!?!?), but now finally having the chance to actually see them they don't look bad at all!

Only reservation is having watched the bikers ident, I only hope there be shorter versions without the build-up, which did seem a bit on the long side and could get somewhat tedious on repeated viewings.

And disappointed there's no globe variant - it's round after all! Could have made a good lead into the news.

Anyway, good riddance to the dancers at long last, even though they will have outlasted the balloons by two weeks and one day!

I've suddenly got this image of all those dancers doing the Conga off the Cliffs at Dover.... sigh! Wink

Love these new idents!

The dancers have had a longer run than the ballons since September 22, last Friday.

So circles then. Clocks being circular (most of them), it's a great opportunity to bring it back, but I won't hold my breath.
