Very impressive - loved the bikes ident, good music and smooth animation.

Nice long idents too, this really shames ITV.

To be honest, love, I doubt ITV will give much of a t*ss whether BBC has longer idents than them or not!

ITV have bigger things to worry about such as the hellish decline in their quality of programming.

Definately an improvement on the dancers.

From the pics I wasn't too over enthusiastic about them - and I'm a bit unsure on the actual logo.

As a brand the current boxed logos are instantly recognisable, link the channels together and still give each channel a unique, simple, identity.

However, the video completly sold me - brilliant!

Is it just me or does anyone else think this ident would've looked good as a clock, had the red pieces been in the right places?

i'm actually really impressed. i wasn't expecting to be, but i find these to be a hundred times better than the dancers, and these will stand the test of time. they will also look fantastic in hi-def, which is surely something they had in mind. this especially:

as for boxes, i think they will quite easily be able to ditch the boxes for bbc three & bbc four, simply moving the three and four over to the same position as the one is in these. and bbc two is getting rebranded anyway, so that will surely retain the same style. knowing that bbc actually gave this idea to red bee as a brief, makes me slightly more excited about bbc two, but i don't think they'll be quite as good as this.

my favourites have to be surfer, roses, kites & windows.

I actually think BBC one's new idents look WORSE than ITV1's!!!
They look half harted, but they may look better on-screen?

Well a circle will make Christmas idents a bit easier. Baubles, puddings etc.

I really like it. The clip on Media Guardian's website looks fab, as does the transition when the logo appears.

Dancers were all just one long continuous shot, with the most interesting thing camerawork-wise being the double pan in Bollywood. Boring as hell. These look a little more interesting.

The disjointed logo is also a refreshing change from the rigidity of the box.

I think they're all fantastic - clever concept, executed with style & class, and something that actually gives a real identity to the channel once more.

These are the idents that we should have had 4 years ago to replace the globes - a nod to tradition, but with a thoroughly modern twist. I suspect that in years to come the balloons and circles will be remembered whilst the embarassing dancer era is quietly left to fade away in people's memories.

Interesting that the DigitalSpy report says that "another eight executions [are] planned over the next five years". They clearly are looking for these to last longer than the current idents, and at least as long as the globe idents.

What I love:
The potential - the circle theme is so versatile that there can be countless new versions of it, including special ones like the versions of the globe they made for Walking with Dinosaurs, Millenium, the eclipse etc (don't forget that the concept could conceivably still be around for the Olympics!)
Production value - they look great, and it's obvious that a lot of time, care & attention to detail has gone into them. BBC One/RedBee have clearly had fun creating them & I think that shines through.
Music - interesting and contemporary soundtrack, with a memorable cord sequence that sounds as if it will be repeated (with different treatments) across all the idents.

I understand people's point about the logo looking like Sky One, but to be honest how many other ways can you write 'one' without it looking like something else - it's only 3 letters afterall !! In any case, it's a massive improvement on the in-your-face red box.

I dunno - sounds daft, but it really feels like BBC One has 'come home' again, after a few mad years in the presentation wilderness.

As for the Christmas ident - as long as it doesn't invovle bloody kids then I'm happy!! Very Happy

I think they're absolutely fabulous- there's a real energy in the bikes video we've seen and I love the daring use of effects that they deliberately avoided for a seemingly "conservative" (small c) BBC One audience in the last rebrand.

Looking forward to seeing them on screen and the presumably different arrangements of music for each ident- I imagine "moon" and "hippos" will be incredibly soothing- "kite" and "moon" initially strike me as the choices for entry into news in the daytime and night respectively.

Looking forward to seeing how this theme is incorporated into the trails as well.

So will all the other channels adopt a similar logo - the superscript |B|B|C| to the left of the channel name/number in lowercase, all with the same font?

I'm sure someone could knock up some mocks of them.
