I really like the way that the 'one' appears (in the video) - the vid looks really good full screen (like on a TV)

Fabulous! I was expecting something awful, but these are super. I like the music, the fact that the shots change, and there's something interesting to watch. Also like the lower case 'one' - goes better with the circular theme having a rounded shape at the beginning and end of the word! The old ONE didn't look good proportionally. Glad to see the box is gone. The hippos look fab - nice to see some humour - I laughed when I saw the images of hippo, but in a good way! I hope these don't get marked out for particular programmes though - I can see the bikes one being reserved for sports shows - hope not! Interesting to note that the circle theme expands on the globe - it's as though the dancer era is being erased, and these are the natural progression from the balloon. I have to say, I prefer the new ones to the globes already - they're just more interesting in every way! They're really good - full marks BBC one!

I can't say I'm really impressed with it so far. Clearly the video looks very classy and professional, but if that logo was posted in the mocks forum, it would've been rubbished for being disjointed or misaligned. But then, the logo hasn't been created for the mocks forum.

These idents are something that really should've been bought in after the balloon in place of the dancers. That would've been the right time for these I think. As already mentioned, Sky One has had something very similar to this in a box form instead of a circle, also with what I suppose you could describe as a disjointed logo. This seems like just an updated version of that.

The similarities are why these idents don't impress me all that much, it doesn't have that individuality that makes it perfect for BBC One only. What I mean is, replace the BBC logo with a Sky logo and the idents would work fine for Sky One as well. You can't exactly say the same for Channel 4, Five, or BBC Two.

The circle is a good link to the globe. I like that it isn't made obvious, its just made up of the real-life elements in the ident. I don't know how it will stand out from the multichannel world, the idents have that feeling of just being another channel among hundreds.

So I think the idents are not impressive, I'm not disappointed though, but it'll be more interesting to see how these are used with menus, trailers, etc. They may well be used on-screen in a totally different light, making them more individual than I first thought, but at the moment, thats what I think.

Lee's just said almost exactly what I was thinking. Every time I see that logo, I think Sky One. I can't really describe it, but there's something 'mushy' and not quite right about the music on the motorcycles ident (and no, I'm not talking about the compression!). I hope the musical arrangements for the other idents are more impressive.

Having said all that, they look much better than the dancers, with more scope for variations and special occaision idents. A really obvious one to do would be for Dr WHO, with the circle formed by the 'time tunnel' in the opening titles.

Wow, 'bikes' looks fantastic. I wonder where / when the anno will come in - there seems to be a long period of virtual silence towards the end - perhaps they will only announce over this?

I think it's about time the BBC had 'pre-anno time' on their idents - it's like in the balloon era when you'd get about 5 seconds of other shots.

Should be interesting - do we think this is the end of the 'blocks' era then?

Yeah I agree with the above posts. It's better than the dancers, but it just doesn't feel any more different or distinctive than Sky One. If the idea was ever built upon, you could do it like the ITV Hearts idents from a few years back, where the images or the people making up the circle segued into a globe with the BBC One logo appearing at the same time.

These idents look fantastic. Finally a bit of thinking by the designers.

I'm especially looking forward to seeing Surfer. Looks great.
