Im starting to really like it. There's now a pic on the MG homepage of the moon ident which looks really good - would be good for the news methinks!

It seems the "box" is going from BBC1, so presumably the others will follow, but retain their colours for their revamps? (also the change to lower case spelling for channel numbers).

I like the fact that the logo is in the centre of the screen......makes it seem more important than just having a box in the corner.

I also like the music. I hope there are variants for the different idents rather than completely different music for each one as with the ITV1 idents.

PS: The Grauniad should know that many hippopotamus are hippopotomi Rolling Eyes

Using people in idents seems to be the future. I take it BBC2 is changing aswell, otherwise in comparison it would look dated.

I rather like it. It'll be interesting to see what the others are like... plus there's something distinctly 'spinning globe' about it at the end.

I'm particularly glad to see the boxed logo has gone. The new logo itself looks quite smart, and reminds me of some of mdta's rather good recent creations.

...and, whilst I'm not holding my breath, what would work better with a circle... than a clock? Wink

...which will dispel any of you thinking that it will be first shown at the launch of the evening's showing of Robin Hood!

And Peter Fincham says...

"The circle, which is at the heart of this campaign, has been familiar to BBC One viewers over the years, but what we've got here is modern, forward looking and surprising." So clearly they were thinking, in a way, that this is the reintroduction of the globe!

Nice!

Im hoping it is a list they can build on so it keeps us interested, maybe some themed ones for special occasions etc.

Liking it! I wonder if there'll be some re-adoption of a clock for the news, which would work perfectly with the circle.

I think you and Spencer are born optimists Laughing

I don't think we'll see the return of the clock simply because people don't "need" that sort of time check anymore. We live in an age where accurate time is maintained by most people with a TV or a mobile every second of the day.

More here.. www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice. Very similar to the Red Bee Press release, but a couple more pics.

I wonder how the regional names will be incorporated. Hopefully now they're not confined to the box, we might see the end of abbreviations like 'Yorks & Lincs' and 'NE & Cumbria'.
