taxpayers

Think you'll find that's licencepayers . Taxes go to the government.

But the government forces us to pay for a licence (which is 99.7% of homes) which makes it a tax, surely?

Technically you are both correct as the correct terminology is infact licencepayer. However it is a media tax forced upon us by the Government as they are the ones who agree or disagree to the BBC's charter which relies on our money to exist. Therefore the fundamental difference is that even people who do not work and are not tax payers are subject to paying for the TV licence. That is why the term Licencepayer is used rather than taxpayer.

Which makes it an oppressive tax. Even if you never watch any of the BBC's television services, you still have to pay for them. It's a bit like withdrawing a ten-pound note from the cashpoint every few days and setting fire to it.

Don't like it Sad - well it's growing on me a little, much better than dancers, but far worse than the balloons.

Hmm interesting. I don't hate it. It's certainly much better than the current set. Interesting and brilliant that they've ditched the box. Much better production values than we're used to. Yeah, not bad, not bad at all.

I can't wait to see the others. That one is certainly ALOT better than what RED BEE knocked out for ITV1 Very Happy Very Happy

They actually look like "idents". At least with a circle they now have a symbol. Circles are inclusive of everything because they are continuous.....I think the bike ident looks great.

I love the quote on that Media Guardian page..

Quote:
"The new look was developed partly in response to public feedback that although they were fond of 'Dancers' they were starting to look a bit tired," said Naomi Gibney, the head of marketing for BBC1 and drama.

I don't think fond was the best word to use. How about they had mixed feelings!

The set up on the idents reminds me of the 1998 Granada regions heart idents.

Brand Republic suggests it's a subtle return to the globe. Suddenly, I love it.

Little tiny cap of another one on that page too. Must be more images out there somewhere.

Just think how much more versatile that logo is. You could stick it anywhere. Especially good for multi-channel promos which have been terrible since the boxes were introduced. Plus, think how easy it will be to stick your region's name underneath it. Liking it so far.

It seems they have gone in the same line as Channel 4 over Ident length, I cant see the voiceover coming until late into it.

The alignment of the BBC and the One will take some getting used to, but glad the box is gone, hopefully the other channels will be brave and adopt this individualist approach.

Looking at the small image, it does kinda remind me of Sky One, when they had the orange idents and simple white logo.
