Maybe it would be an idea to watch the newspaper reviews on the news channels to see if they cover it. Do you think the BBC website would have something at midnight?

Quite how are the newspapers supposed to react before the press release, is released?

Besides I doubt the press will be as interested as us in the news, and is the sort of thing that will receive a small mention if anything; most likely at a time when the newspapers have got 1/4 of a page to fill; Media Guardian excepted.

The newspapers wouldn't be able to tell you anything other than the information contained in the press release, unless (and this is highly unlikely) the reporter actually decided to do any research.

Just wait until sometime tomorrow; you never know, when it is published, it might even get a mention here!

Oh I thought because Media Guardian will be looking at it tomorrow that the information would no longer be embargoed.

That's not how embargos work!

I didn't know that either. So this is a sneak peak from Media Guardian rather than the BBC giving them the information?

There is a press launch later today.

It's interesting that Media Guardian it says they'll be looking at the new BBC1 idents and not BBC idents. We know BBC2 are revamping their onscreen look but by the sounds of it both channels may not be debuting them on the same day like some of us here have speculated. Or maybe I'm reading too much into the wording on Media Guardian.

Back to talking abotu Sceduling for October 7, the BBC HD channel has a TBA fdor 19:50-20:35. While this is only a 45 minute slot, could BBC One be simulcasting Robin Hood in HD?

The lottery show has got to be longer than it currently shows, if it's to be Dermot O'Leary's 1 vs 100, which is 45 minutes the week previosuly.

Yup, it's just BBC ONE with the new on-screen look next month at the moment. BBC TWO's new identity will come later.

Speculation, on this thread? Surely not! Laughing

Is it a bit unusual for new idents to get a press launch?

I know there were press releases for 1991 and 1997. In 1985 it was part of a greater change to BBC1 with the introduction of Wogan and EastEnders.

BBC generally does make announcements about channel branding exercises due to the fact BBC spends a significant amount of taxpayers money on these revamps.

Think you'll find that's licencepayers . Taxes go to the government.

But the government forces us to pay for a licence (which is 99.7% of homes) which makes it a tax, surely?
