I really do not understand why the BBC can't just announce their new look launch dates. Obviously we are emphasising on BBC1 on this particular thread, but is it known if BBC2 will launch on the same day? After all, the secrecy is kind of annoying......let's face it, they're launching idents, not a top secret security code.

I personally consider a relaunch of BBC TWO at the same time to be highly unlikely. I'd be surprised if it did happen, but that said, I cannot rule it out.

A lot of it is down to educated guesses based on hearsay. I'm suprised that nobody has come forward with any sneak info. We do know that both channels will be getting a revamp and I'd assume it'd happen on the same day.

According to the BBC's Pressoffice on the 30th September, Casualty will be at 8.10 and the final hour long comedy (The Good Housekeeping Guide) will be at 9.00 - finishing at 10.00.

If this is correct then the lottery would have to be on at 19.25 that evening and we know Just For Laughs finishes at 18.10 leaving a slot of one hour and forty five minutes.
I suspect a schedule like this may be drawn up, which would enable enough time for SCD, Casualty and the football on the following week (7th October):

18.10 Robin Hood
18.55 Outtake TV
19.25 Lottery
20.10 Casualty
21.00 The Good Housekeeping Guide
22.00 News

Robin Hood would then finish on the 23rd December, which seems likely IMO.

As for the Robin Hood promo, the BBC One box is definitely a lighter shade of red (more pink) as when compared to the ident that followed it (Tapdogs) the box was much darker. Whether or not it is something to do with the rebrand remains to be seen.

Robin Hood won't start until October 7th. This is pretty much common knowledge now isn't it? That day it'll have a great lead in from the footie so should get it off to a great start. Anyway why would they give Outtake TV a better slot than Robin Hood? Not very likely - i'd imagine it'll just be a film filling up the early evening of September 30th before the new schedule kicks in on Oct 7th.

Do we know for certain what time the football will start?

Apologies I was unaware that the launch date for Robin Hood had been confirmed. I was trying to find a way of getting round the scheduling problem of football, SCD, Robin Hood, Casualty and Lottery all between 17.00 and 22.00. With a line up like this, a rebrand would be perfect.

God this is almost as boring as presenter rotas in the Newsroom. Can people please only contribute if they have something worthwhile to add, and not endless speculation over what the frigging schedule will be on random bloody days?

Well a source at BBC Marketing says that there be with us sometime in early October although an exact date hasn't been announced yet so the 7th does seem quite likely. Also, apparently we are going to hear about them, as usual, before launch date...

Any pre-launch announcements should be at least a week before the changeover, not just three days like last time!

Has aqnyone else noticed how BBC continuity announcers often just read parts of the Radio Times out? I've noticed it more in daytime, where they sometimes just read out the synopsis for the programme.

I also noticed it on Monday when introducing EastEnders he was plugging Spooks by saying 'the country is in turmoil as the high-level conspiracy tightens it's grip'. Those where the word's of Alison Graham in her review of the programme, page 76 of this week's RT.

As for the new look, not too long to wait now, just over 2 weeks Very Happy

Not necessarily - often RT is quoting direct from the billing the programme gets, which the announcer might be using. In the case of a big show like Spooks then yeah it could be seen as a bit lazy...but in the case of some small shows it could be all they've got to go on.
