Well BBC1 & BBC2 are definitely getting new idents, BBC1 will ditch the dancers but BBC2 will have new versions of their '2'. BBC1's are by Red Bee Media and BBC2's are by an ad agency. Somebody on Outpost Gallifrey said that he was told to expect something unusual for both channels.

However the annoying thing is nobody apart from those in the know have any idea what they will be like.

Hopefully we'll see some rumours on here soon. A major relaunch thread on TVF can't go without them.

Oh I'm definitely telling the truth. Some people here were saying October as that is when BBC1 will be launching some big shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Robin Hood. I thought it would be September but it seems they were right as that was a possible date mooted by someone on Outpost Gallifrey.

Also I've been looking into getting tickets for SCD and it says tickets will be available from October. So this would rule the show out of starting on September 30th.

Surely we'll get some leaks soon?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but no-one has ever said for definite that the '2' is staying.

Why? Tape is still the way the majority of video footage is sent around the country!

In the case of these idents sending out tapes is the best way to do it - each region/nation gets a first generation master copy which they can then load onto whatever system they use to play them onto air.

I worked at a BBC region during the last rebrand, we got the tape of the dancers about a week before they were used. The same with the chistmas idents each year

When they say tape, they dont mean VHS, but a professional format like DigiBeta.

Same here; I don't remember anything about the '2' being kept for sure. Do you have a source, cylon?
