New look for BBC1

I stand corrected. I missed the credits but just saw the following junction.

When is BBC One re-launching? 'Coming this Autumn' - surely it should be this week as this is pretty much the start of the Autumn TV schedule now. Are we going to have to wait til January now? Please God no. If I see those disabled basketball players one more time I will scream!

...and if the new look is worse, what then!?

If the Autumn preview is anything like the one released on gateway a few months ago, expect very thin red slats opening and closing over images of what's to come, very much like the current "red shutter" design. The BBC Two preview released to staff was a mystery in terms of design. Just white text on black with no reference to the current yelow and purple design.

According to DS member "thedrewster" in the Broadcasting Forum:

"I can reveal that the provisional date for the relaunch of the BBC ONE idents is October 7th 2006. The master tapes are being rolled out to the regions over the next month..."

"As soon as I hear more about them from my mates in TV world I'll definitely post them here."

As has been mentioned on many occasions on Tv Froum over the years.... the digital delay isn't the reason why there's no clock

My guess is that the new look will come into action with the new series of [spooks] and all the new shows this autumn. It makes sense really to have it at the beginning of the new season, which is pretty much in the next few weeks.

A thread I've not been following, so without wading through the 30 pages could anyone simply tell me whether so far all we have is speculation, or do we actually know anything about the new look yet?
