Well BBC1 will definitely be sometime this Autumn, whether BBC2's ident will coincide with the launch on BBC1 remains to be seen.

Which reminds me...to Londoner, wherever you may be: Sorry to be such a pedant, but the BBC TWO rebrand thread is called "New idents for BBC Two" - surely that's incorrect because I should imagine it is more than just the idents that will change. Similar to this thread, it should be called "New look for BBC Two". [/pedantry]

I'm quite confident BBC ONE will change first. If they both relaunch at the same time I will be very surprised.

Do you remember when the BBC1 balloons launcehed? Well BBC2 launched some new idents on the same day, hopefully that'll happen this year; but there are just no clues whatsoever.

My money on the start of the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, which will be a Saturday in early/mid October.

My Money is on saturday october 2nd. The Autumn schedules proper begin on this day.

How long do these things usually take? There was an article in Design Week saying Red Bee had won the contract to do the new idents in mid March. That's 5 and half months ago now..

Wicko might mean October 7th, as that's the first Saturday in October, so would probably be when the autumn schedules start.... after all, the balloon launched on the first Saturday in October (4th) back in 1997, so it makes sense, if of course that's the day that the new schedules will start.

Yes, and in 1997.

As I said, I hope it's before September 22nd, because I don't want the dancers getting a longer run than the ballon, which they will do if they're still here by that date.

Remember they have got to get all these luvvies around a table for weeks on end to come up with something unique and eye catching such as the square boxy things for ITV - which just happen to very similar to the BBC2 'coming up' boxy idents which happen to look like the UKTV coming up boxy idents. Could it be one designer and lots of managers Laughing
