Errrm.. rubbish. If you were younger like 6 you would be scared, the Channel 4 ident (1982-1996) used to scare me. But now it doesn't, since I know what that thing is.
According to my mum, the same was true of me! God knows why though........
I was fairly scared of a Channel 4 ident from the same era -- although it wasn't the main '4'; it was the American Football ident. That was ghastly - in particular the 'breathing' thing it did at the end.
Going back to the other couple of posts... how the hell can anyone be scared of an ident? The music or the bleeding logo? People on here are truly freaky.
I had to fast forward whenever I watched a BBC video. The image together with the audio gave me the creeps. After a while, everytime I saw the logo on tv, I always associated it with the creepy audio.
Ba ba baa, ba ba baa, ba ba baa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
I remember being perpetually scared of the BBC video idents when I was a child apart from the last one which is the current one with the guitar music.
The first one was the scariest, these lines would appear with this scary electronic music and when it ends this sinister looking star would appear on the middle of the screen, I always went dashing upstairs whenever my parents put on a Fireman Sam/Postman Pat video!
The second one was strange yet mildly scary, a map of the world would appear with this scary music and suddenly it would morph into the BBC COW. When I watched some of the videos a long time ago to see the idents I tried to find out why the COW was really scary. TV & Radio Bits only had the opening ident but when I saw the closing logo I found out why it was very scary. The closing ident was played out in reverse to the opening ident and it was not just the COW that was reversed but the music was as well giving out this eerie, spine chilling and of course scary jingle that ended with a ringing bell.
The third one would also be classified as scary because of the darkness, loud music and the doo doo dur, doo doo dur, doo doo daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
And as for the last one it's not scary at all but it does have a standard soundtrack and appearance.
I can also admit that I was scared of the BBC2 idents 1991-2001 . Those were normally the ones where the 2 is exactly on the middle of the screen and something would happen and it normally involves the colour green which I don't like. I would regularly recieve nightmares when I was a child thanks to this tedious number and when an ident would play I would run right out of the living room. The scariest must be Powder as a large 2 crashes on white powder, leaving a vile green outline.

Oddly, it's that very sort of moody atmosphere of the early 2's that I like.
The soundtrack would have impact, the visuals would have impact, it all contributed to said haunting mood -- which clearly gave you the creeps, but it's what I think made them so great! I understand where you're coming from though, some of those idents (in particular early ones like Paint) were visually quite minimal yet bold.
NB: I didn't realize that the soundtrack to Powder actually continued after the 'crash'... There's an announcerless clip online (the TV Room I think?) from a closedown, where the ident fades out to black once the crash finishes, but the soundtrack continues over the black screen -- perhaps that would have been quite scary, if you were there watching that very closedown in the middle of the night!
