Couldn't find any other appropriate thread but a wonderful anno into Neighbours just now. No plugging other shows for a change, just a reference to the announcer liking the Sound of Music (the trail having just been played twice just before and after CBBC finished
), talking about what he likes ending with "...and Neighbours"! Awww. Was that Phil Vowels per chance?
And cockups galore on Newsround right from the word go with silence, reports not working, ticker not working, slides randomly popping up. Ellie coped well those and did say "things don't always go to plan but we do try!"

Nearly. In theory, Autumn starts on August 7th and ends on November 7th with the Autumnal equinox in the middle on September 23rd. So you can say there's only ten days of summer left.

Astronomically, it begins with the autumnal equinox (around September 23 in the Northern hemisphere, and March 21 in the southern hemisphere), and ends with the winter solstice (around December 21 in the Northern hemisphere and June 21 in the Southern hemisphere).

What a great announcement into News 24 just now by Phil Vowels...
Shame about the crash into News 24.
Did anyone capture it?

Sorry to be a clever dick, but the two solstici and the two equini are the mid-points of their respective seasons. The summer solstice on June 21st was mid summers day (in the north), not the start of summer. Summer began on May 6th. This is in terms of the position of the earth around the sun, but the climate works differently.

Okay Banksoriginal you know people in the BBC, your mission if you should choose to accept it is to keep your ears to the ground and find out when they are going to debut. I think there will definitely be an announcement in August.

Cast your mind back to Saturday October 4th 1997. The morning started with a new look! While few people knew about this, it was only in the National Press on the DAY the balloons launched. The BBC do tend to keep things quiet. In contrast, the Virtual world of 1991 was mentioned seven days before. The COW globe was mentioned by Terry Wogan in a TV trailer before it aired as well as having a piece about it in the Radio Times. The dancers were officially launched on the Wednesday before the launch day. So, we may not know when the new idents will launch.....until they do!

That's what I find so intriguing we know they're coming but don't know when and you can't look to the past for clues because it's different each time. I knew there was going to be a change in 1997 when I bought my Radio Times and noticed that instead of the '1' and '2' symbols they used for the channels that it changed to BBC ONE and BBC TWO. There was quite a discussion on another forum about what was happening on Saturday and if they were getting rid of the '2'.
When Michael Grade was launching his new look for BBC1 at a press conference they talked about EastEnders, Wogan and the press document had the new globe on the front.
All we can deduce is that when the new look debuts it'll be from the first link of the day and not in the evening.
