Not the sort of thing that would be mentioned in a seasonal press pack.

Maybe it's because July is too early to talkabout something that won't be on screen for months and will instead have a launch a week before. I really do hope Red Bee put some thought into it this time. If you look at many of the channel idents that they designed are uninspired to put it mildly.

It is because of their previous work that I'm worried about what will appear this Autumn. None of their branding has stood out to me thus far; the ideas are such that it's often not very visually arresting, and the sound design fails to captivate.

The dancers might not be popular, but amongst the awful, a few of the idents really are shot quite well and have a nice mood to them. If Red Bee continue with the standard of work they've shown thus far, I doubt it will be any better than what we have now, or possibly even worse. That's why I'm not going to rejoice at the dancers' imminent departure just yet.

My God it's so depressing, go to their website and have a look at their uninspired idents!! Rolling Eyes It's the same thing over and over again, a bit of film then they slap the logo on at the end.

I'm not sure they'll be able to pull this one off but we live in hope!

Seems when McQuarie brought BBC Broadcast they forgot the companies' soul because they seriously lack it now.

In their defence, Red Bee are responsible for two of my favourite bits of TV presentation around at the moment, namely the News 24 countdown and the BBC Two Morris Dancer ident. Admittedly the latter was an extension of a Lambie Nairn idea, and yes, ITV1's idents are dull as ditch-water.

That just goes to show what an insane idea selling off BBC Broadcast was in the first place. And to a bank of all people.

And don't forget, it was ITV that requested that thing about "feelings" and all that crap!

the dancers have grown on me. However I think that there should have a balloon in the background, just to make a compromise.

I read somewhere that something called 'BBC Technology' was being bidded for take-over. This whas a few years ago.

BBC1&2 have different companies doing their deisng. Does this mean that a corporate uniformity is bieng dropped - in favour of a more 'Channel Four Television Corporation'-style individual channel brands?

Well now that both BBC channels have unveiled their autumn schedules we can't be too far from an announcement about the idents. I know BBC1 will definitely get a new look in the autumn but I don't know if BBC2's will be this autumn as well.

When do you think we'll get more news? Are there no people on the inside that can give us some info?

OOOOO!! Thanks for that Banksoriginal. Will it be for both channels or just BBC1 or do you not have that information?

Would be interesting to do a street survey - ask people what they believe is the collective meaning of ITV1's idents, and how many are likely to give anything near the right answer? Twisted Evil
