Well maybe it says more about the CA's we have now as opposed to then? Perhaps the current ones read here on a regular basis.

I really think that'd be great if they did - you never know!

I wonder what all the "normal" viewers thought of that. Those in bed are in for a right shock in the morning.

It's strange this time around. I usually love being the loser to announce a change to my friends who really don't give a rat's ass - but they all seemed to be fully aware of the change and had seen at least one of the new ones (namely Motorbikes) already.

I agree that more people are aware of the change this time round...but the majority of people (who couldn't give a rats ass usually) will hopefully be pleasantly surprised...hopefully that is...

BBC One Northern Island gave us a balloon montage in 2002, and Wales got a special message over the clock, but that's it.

It's interesting to compare this relaunch with previous ones. I remember the 1991-97 'laserdisc globe', for example, but being nine years old and not a hardcore pres fan, I simply didn't notice it change to the balloon. It was only in January 1998, where I viewed an old tape that had the laserdisc ident on, when I thought "Oh yeah, I remember that!".

For the balloons changing into the dancers, by this time I was a member of TV Forum, so I knew of it well. Unlike this time I didn't bother staying up to record the final showing, though.

Very nice bow out, nice to feel talked to by the continuity announcer - and Ballet really was a nice, different ident - I had never actually seen it before tonight so there ya go. Roll on 10 AM

A final satirical touch - after Ballet faded out, we could have had the Queen Mother Spitting Image puppet peering her head round the screen, like she did in her first appearance on the show. Wink

You know your sad when, like me, you've just watched the montage again that you've just taped.

Yep I just did that!

One of the things I did actually like about the idents, unlike these new ones, I did like the music, especially on Skateboarders.

And the music was the best thing about them, when the mp3 was put up earlier is this thread you realised how good the music was without the pictures spoiling it. And the thing about Skateboarders is that you don't expect it to have soft music like that or to be shot in that way. That's probably why so many like it.

At long, long last the hideous things have gone...now perhaps I can go back to watching BBC1 after having my viewing rudely interrupted for 4 and a half years!

The Dancers and Red Box logo is the Current BBC One Brand. That brand is being re-designed or re-placed so it is being re-branded

If the name was changing, it would be a re-launching

No. A rebrand means the name is being changed. BBC One is having it's idents and promos relaunched.

BBC One will always be called BBC One (or BBC ONE or BBC1). It is not being rebranded.

Sorry if this is mentioned elsewhere, but all the new idents have been added to YouTube:
