Thanks for the replies regarding the short lived BBC2 rebrand. Much appreciated.

Why the flip isn't BBC ONE Wales using it? Brecon Beacons and all...

I suspect they'd like to put a curtain in front of all these idents.

Heck, I expect nobody to ever moan about those Christmas Showtime adverts again - just think of the horrors that might have hidden behind that curtain.

The 2012 Christmas Idents, although a bit plain and simple, had a coherent and consistent theme and ALL presentation supported the look. I assume that Oneness is meant to be a stop gap because presentation throughout is still relevant to the circles. But, compared to Oneness, the 2012 curtain was actually high quality. Who'd have thought that BBC1's worst ever ident is now much better quality than the current look?

Only me wondering what happens if the top story is that an exercise class teacher drowns whilst mountaineering?

It is slightly more likely than a hippo eating a dog while riding a bike in a forest glade, I suppose.

Ok, BBC. The fun's over. You've tried experimenting with something new, but it's been an unprecedented disaster. Viewers hate it, the regions don't want it, and you've now publicly admitted (by showing it) that your previous 10 year old package is infinitely more suitable for introducting the wide range of output on the channel. Let's clear this debacle up by the end of the month, get back to the circles and then come up with a coherent alternative that befits a world renowned and respected national broadcaster.

Isn't that more a Media Planning & Scheduling issue?

Sounds like it. Correct me if I'm wrong but if it's to do with Media Planning - they could have not had much time to change the trails. I'm not sure to be honest.

This made me a bit too cynical despite my attempts to tone it down..

All idents and trails are placed by Media Planning. And ECPs.

Is there two versions of Brecon Beacons then ? Do they go back up the hill ?

NE&C had the rescue service - again!

How bizarre. An assumption based on nothing but... maybe the team in the North East had the balls to talk to London and go 'look, Swimmers isn't appropriate into the news, have you got anything else'? It's still laughable that they caption Clevedon on all the regional idents as it is.

And if they've got that new one or Forest waiting in the wings, why not use one into Panorama? (However, nice to see the far more suitable Capes used instead. There's hope the original set could still make their way back)

Look North NE&C received its own refresh today (discussed in the Newsroom), perhaps they desired something new/slightly more suitable to precede it?

Could be a coincidence, but it's as decent a call as can be made at the moment, regardless.

More likely that the person in Newcastle who loaded the new ident onto the server, wasn't party to any emails with instructions as to when it could start to run.
