I wonder if the Capes/Kites idents are going to be shown for serious programming like this edition of Panorama permanently,or until some more oneness idents are created that are suitable?

If it's the latter, then I could understand, but if it's the former, then both BBC One and BBC Two are in urgent need of a cohesive on screen presentation that is consistent and strong.

you've got to wonder why they didn't just wait a couple of weeks to get a couple of extra idents made so they at the very least had a cohesive look.

it really is a mess.

And people thought showing the Ballet ident when the Queen Mother died was as low as they'd sink.

This was an extremely astute call. A shockingly ill-thought out rebrand, but it could have sunk even lower tonight.

The fact this had to be done at all should serve as a massive wake up call. Should.

Was never a fan of the circles idents, but it's so good to see one back.

Exactly - it would be far from the first time a channel has switched from Christmas back to it's regular idents only to relaunch completely a couple of weeks later. Indeed I think ITV have done that 2-3 times over the last 15 years.

Love 2017 would not have been unexpected, and would have been a reasonable stopgap.

So does this mean BBC One have switched back to the circles for every junction?

Unlikely. It was just the content of Panorama that would not have been appropriate with either of the current idents.

No. Sea Swimmers was played out at the 9pm junction - its important to note that the BBC ONE circles are only there with sombre and extremely serious programming.

No it was back to swimmers before Silent Witness.
