Four protestors (probably Red Bee representatives) who created professional looking banners are hardly going to cause a mass public outcry. Not one person, not one, has even mentioned BBC One's idents. I doubt they care that much.

What the BBC deserve for shoving out this incredibly s***e set.

They've achieved 'oneness' in the most ironic way possible.

Obviously. Wink

But to be fair - I've seen quite a number of people on Twitter and on forums who loathe the 'idents'. Universal hatred is rife for 'oneness'.

Which also includes a comedy classic of the regional presenter (Justin Leigh) managing not to snigger too much while describing "pop-up brothels"

If by "not too much" you mean "not at all," which should hardly be surprising as he's a professional newsreader.

Who is this "they" that everyone who has commented over the last 60 pages is apparently entirely separate from?

If HM does die, I wouldn't mind some IVC with the red ice background.

I have a sneaking suspicion that in an obit situation, somebody will have the sense not to use this rubbish. I'm sure the animated cubes that appear on the nations' clean feed could be used like the old "family ident", or a simple still BBC One logo on black.

We're not all hoping for her Maj to snuff it are we just to prove a point?

Although the Queen dying would in the first instance see a simulcast of BBC News it is likely the evening would see BBC1 have a schedule of it's own tribute programming.

Maybe when the Queen dies it will be One less

Only Day 3 but an early contender for Post of the Year.

The mind baffles as to how an organisation like the BBC can go from idents like that, to the crap they've put on screen in 2017. It really is vandalism.

It was mentioned earlier that the new logo placement (bottom centre) echoes that of the 1997-2002 period. However, there is a subtle but important difference in the prominence of the BBC logo itself that speaks tremendous volumes.

Look at how large and proud it sits in the Millennium Dome ident above; it literally slams onto screen to the sound of an enormous, sit up and pay attention beat. Then look at how the 2017 set does it: it's not even there initially and when it does appear, it's a tiny footnote next to "Oneness", almost as if to say "oh, yeah, by the way, this is the BBC, you know, just in case you, er, wanted to know."

A small difference with huge metaphorical significance.

I think you've nailed that in one. In 2002 the coloured boxes made sense to try and differentiate easily between the BBC's new expanded line up of channels but now the BBC logo should be front and centre as it fights against the newcomers in the market. Pathetic rebrands like "oneness" do nothing for the image of the BBC. It has gone beyond that now and they need to rebrand across their visual portfolio at least. We thought they might be beginning to do that with the new BBC3 and CBBC logos last year but that style began and ended with them.

At the moment the branding across the two flagship channels give the impression the BBC is dated and irrelevant rather than current and competitive in the era of Netflix etc.

They have forgotten about the 90 second update as suggested. Still the same as before with the circle device.

I wouldn't complain about that, better than introducing it with a moob shot.

Still with the same audio too? Typical.

Rebrands like this are always disliked. People don't like change or new things. However unlike other examples, I don't think I've ever seen anything similar that no-one has a good word for.

That said its not really entered the public consciousness yet, the conversation about them is restricted to places like here, DS, Twitter etc. That might be because they started when they did and gone under the radar somewhat. Or it might just be that the average Joe doesn't really care that much, they're so bland and dull that they're inoffensive and not provoking much emotion either way in the public.

I haven't seen anyone mention the HD caption which is now the swimmers and keep fitters. The audio on it is much less relaxing than the previous effects based one
