BBC Oneness - idents and presentation

Just flicked through the regions on iPlayer, every single one opted for the Swimmers rather than Kites or Helicopter.

Wonder what we will see when something falls off air

All of the old "Circles" idents have been fully withdrawn- we won't be seeing any of them onscreen again. The current "Oneness" package is a full rebrand. Apparently, we will be getting new idents as the year goes on. Wouldn't surprise me if we get 2 idents for each calendar month. I'm only hoping we get some better ones on the way- surely it can't get any worse?? (yeah, I know)

Just about disgraceful to shove this crap onto the news junctions, especially with depressing stories like the one above.

Which also includes a comedy classic of the regional presenter (Justin Leigh) managing not to snigger too much while describing "pop-up brothels" and a problem with 'Trundle Cam' in the newsroom.

Call me old fashioned, but things have reached a pretty pass when a merry group of people flying kites is more appropriate as an obit ident than anything in the current presentation package of the nation's principal public service TV channel. Perhaps with Big Ben out of service later in the year, Radio 4 will see fit to introduce the 1800 and 0000 news with clips of the comedy greats, uniting the nation in laughter?

Correct me if im wrong but have they only got 2 idents of swimmers and 2 of a dance class. Not very diverse! Most people i know go to work, shopping, video games but no one i know goes to dance classes or swims in the sea. (Not over here anyway!)

Maybe the swimmers without their swimming costumes?

I have a feeling when the Queen dies we may see a return of "This is BBC Television from London" with a BBC logo against a sombre background.

Even that, with the addition of the 'oneness' drivel if they insist, would be a better ident.
