If, as I read somewhere, there are 24 idents or scenarios, then maybe the idea is to have two of them per month, culminating in the Christmas idents in December?
Yes, there's probably 2 per month, timed to perfectly reflect the national pastimes of the season. I suspect ident 3 - the (not-at-all-patronising) wheelchair rugby team one - will debut in Feb just before the 6 Nations kicks-off, along with ident 4 - rescuers in the Brecon Beacons - because large numbers of the population traditionally come together to get lost in these during February...

The mind baffles as to how an organisation like the BBC can go from idents like that, to the crap they've put on screen in 2017. It really is vandalism.
Through the night now on TV Forum, with more nostalgia and yearning for authoritativeness:

* incidentally, if anyone knows of a higher quality version of this I would be most grateful if you could point me in that direction

When I think of "oneness" in an ident, this is what springs to mind, before their latest 'efforts'.

Yes, we all go to Zumba classes and take dips in the freezing sea (with our wrinkly moobs dangling) in January!

It was mentioned earlier that the new logo placement (bottom centre) echoes that of the 1997-2002 period. However, there is a subtle but important difference in the prominence of the BBC logo itself that speaks tremendous volumes.
Look at how large and proud it sits in the Millennium Dome ident above; it literally slams onto screen to the sound of an enormous, sit up and pay attention beat. Then look at how the 2017 set does it: it's not even there initially and when it does appear, it's a tiny footnote next to "Oneness", almost as if to say "oh, yeah, by the way, this is the BBC, you know, just in case you, er, wanted to know."
A small difference with huge metaphorical significance.

This is a better idea of oneness!! I always used to like this ident, shame it was rested when they got rid of TVC.
IMHO, I think the look and feel of BBC1 has been lost completely..

I wouldn't blame Martin Parr too much, he only did what was asked of him. There's plenty of other people who could have stopped any of it making it to air!

I'm talking about Yorkshire, the BBC English region. The Yorkshire coast is covered by Yorks & Lincs.
It's weird. Whitby is covered by Newcastle, Scarborough and Filey by Leeds and Bridlington by Hull. In an ideal world the coast would be a sub region of its own.
Without going into the many intricacies of how the Yorkshire Coast is split within the BBC region system again (I've probably commented every time it has come up), this may explain the success of Yorkshire Coast Radio's news coverage of the four towns and beyond.
Scarborough is well known for a Boxing Day dip in the sea, incidentally. Cavan may like to visit the Yorkshire Coast one day; with the recently Countryfile-featured Bempton Cliffs, the biggest concentration of Haven Holiday camps in the country, and the first ever seaside resort (Scarborough, apparently).
Yorkshire does have a very long coast, and several 'seaside' towns ?!
