This is the worst rebranding package in the history of the BBC. Should have done better.....

Bit late to the party but has anyone mentioned how similar they are (in concept as well as stylistically) to ITVs idents?!

The whole idea of capturing people around the country - and the way it's been shot.

Also I'd disagree about Bbc creative. They have two new creative directors in from agencies and no real broadcast experience. I've noticed a decline in trailer standards since the cull and split from red bee

Around 4 years ago whilst on holiday, I though of an idea that BBC 1 could follow for a new symbol which was inspired by the Swiss tv idents focusing on the numeral which was shot in various locations in the confederation. Maybe the BBC should go Swiss and take something similar on.
The red fits in well with BBC one as well, with it being the primary colour of the channel for just about 20 years now.

Their sea swimmers ident is certainly more impressive... SRF have to be the polar opposite of BBC for consistency. Their original idents were created by Dunning Penny/Elley Jones. No reason BBC couldn't have done the same. They actually added to their collection of idents, always following the same theme for the many years the package aired. The ident below is from their new look, again it still follows a similar theme and doesn't feel the need to have any silly tagline or marketing babble, its just a good ident. No channels in the UK seem to be able to add to their idents and if they do they are sub par and don't match the originals. They could have retained the circles and combine it with oneness (swimming in a circle, dancing in a circle etc)

Great, my tweet is part of their headline. Thanks for not asking, Daily Mail.

I'm pretty sure they don't have to

I'm sure they don't have to, but a simple ask would still be appreciated.

Why are you objecting to them using it without permission ? Your comments are clearly still valid,

Apologies. Have just caught up with a shedload of posts. Of course you lot have mentioned the similarity to ITV....

I'd be surprised if they let it lie

I like the idea of Oneness. The concept is a good one given divisions in the country of late and it resonates with me for that reason.

But the execution is godawful. No post production, no real imagination to it whatsoever. ITV nailed it much better to be honest and they weren't going for a togetherness theme.

Because it's just nice to ask. Not saying it would be, but it could've been taken out of context.

Because I'm sure ITV own the copyright on filming a load of swimmers in the sea.

I personally wouldn't read too much into them saying '24 are going to be shot over the year', as past experience suggests they usually just pick any arbitrary number out of thin air for the press release. I seem to recall when the original Rhythm ones launched we were being told there'd be 8 more by the summer and I'm not even sure if they hit an additional 8 over the following 4 years in the end.
They didn't. One short, if you don't count the Christmas idents.

Yes, there's much more action to them. Kind of reminds me of the Circles Surfer long ident before it was chopped. As I said if the BBC One ident had the swimmers running into the sea from behind the camera or some form of zoom out with multiple shots it would have looked considerably better and dare I say it, some music too. It seems the Beeb are trying their best at the ITV one shot rule and failing miserably.
