Not sure how much agreement I’ll get on this but I’m going to say it anyway...

I reckon Oneness would work if BBC One had better surrounding presentation.

Everything about BBC One is dated - the logo, the font, the garish red. I think the idents would be ok if everything was smartened up. The more recent ones are a lot better than those dark days of the first 2 that were on for a whole month when it first launched. I love the steel drums one.

You genuinely think the Oneness idents are being dragged down by the surrounding presentation?

I thought I'd better check before I said it was nonsense.

I think simply Oneness would work if the concept was executed better, and the idents weren't restricted to just one slightly shaky wide-shot. Even editing in some of the shots used in the promo stings would lift them a bit.

It does feel like a bit more thought has gone into the recent ones, but even when you compare them to, say, ITV's people idents (which in themselves are a bit 'meh' IMO), they still look pretty cheap.

Yes, the rest of BBC One's pres isn't massively inspiring, but if they came up with something amazing, beautiful and creative, the transition to wobbly Oneness would surely be all the more jarring.

I see they’re still running with that Andrew Marr slide.

Maybe the logo resting on the black bezel of my hotel room screen was the intended effect Rolling Eyes

There was an old-school Match of the Day slide after this morning's repeat, informing us that it was recorded after last night's news had broken. No photo though - just 'Match of the Day' on the standard red background with the BBC One logo in the centre.

It was also mentioned in the continuity announcement at the start.

Yes - spotted this format a few months back - for Andrew Marr's Sunday show I think.

Unusual sloppiness from BBC NI here. Wales didn't bother with any special post-programme announcement.

There was also the quite poignant and respectful 'silent close' of MOTD from the previous evening's edition.

Another nice tribute on MOTD2, it must be really hard for the presenting team to be commentating on a game of football this weekend when a mate is in hospital after a heart attack and the awful plane crash.

I watched the clip of Jake and the pundits on BT Sport having a bit of banter about the helicopter taking off, I wish I hadn't now as it just keeps playing in my mind.

There's a special blip with Michael McIntyre airing now: with him holding the BBC One logo upside down and trying to pronounce it. It's as bad as it sounds.
