I also randomly record HIGNFY on BBC One NI, and I’ve no idea why. I’m sure I never set it to record on NI. Has something on Sky’s series link gone a bit bizarre at some point?
It's Casualty which tours the nations for me, and that's on Freesat. I assumed it was a tuning thing - if I'm recording/watching too many other channels, it knows it can get the same programme from BBC One HD Scotland.

Gonna go out on a limb here - I saw a new end board and I didn’t think it was terrible. I’ve seen some examples in this thread where it does, but the one I saw looked fine, proving it can work. The key is consistency, as with most things.
I think the reason I liked the previous design was that the One logo was in the same place all the time - same size at the centre on idents, end boards and so on. Now the idents have changed that, the endboards restore this consistency. It can work - now they just have to prove it by making it look nice all the time.

I wonder if the BBC1 presentation, continuity and general vibe is the reason it is down over 2% on last year's viewing figures and ITV is up by the same amount? The general look and feel of the channel is like Wilko's compared to ITV's WHSmith. Some digital channels fail because they just look bad. BBC1 is going that way in my opinion.
That new big font on the end board looks so bad, especially as they’ve just increased the size within the current design.
I know lots of BBC One programmes have high numbers of older viewers, so maybe it’s intended for the partially sighted.

Nah. People watch programmes not presentation. Some of BBC One's dramas have bombed, and their Saturdays and Enders are weaker.

Not really. The Oneness package is a non-factor for BBC One's ratings performance.
As Square Eyes has stated, BBC One has been overtaken by ITV in prime-time ratings purely due to slew of dramas rating badly for BBC One, EastEnders being outpaced by Emmerdale and Corrie and ITV clearly holding a far superior Saturday night schedule.
It still tops ITV thanks to daytime and the BBC News. But prime-time...so far this year ITV has it on lock.

I've only caught a few minutes of The Button but the scheduling seems really off. It's on far too late on a Friday and it gets an inexplicable late AAs repeat on Saturday nights. As you say, it seems far too family oriented.
I think the idea is that it's a bit like Gogglebox the game show and they're hoping they might scoop a bit of their audience before switching over to Gogglebox itself at 9 which is a terrible idea as it clearly doesn't suit the slot. Also the half hour early evening Saturday ents slot is now supposed to consist only of shows produced in the nations/regions which might explain why it wasn't put there.
Gogglebox quite rightly took aim at it after its first episode. It's a truly awful show and indicative of the terrible state BBC Entertainment commissioning currently finds itself in.
I do think it’s a little odd that the very family friendly The Button is followed immediately by the rather less family friendly HIGNFY
