Wow I am truely saddened our premier national broadcaster thinks these idents are great, it's not it's awful, absolutely awful, just like a previous poster has said I remember the fantastic idents from the mid 80s, 90s that got me hooked onto tv presentation, but this literally is filming an ident and slapping a logo onto it, I really do think we should start our own design company!
Unpopular opinion...I have faith in this as a concept and like the idea. Granted, the first two idents we've seen are pretty dire, but I think there's a beauty in them being low-budget: hopefully, over the coming months and years, the BBC will be able to churn out more and more creating a huge range of hundreds of idents. Perhaps we'll even see regional idents, where viewers will be able to look out for friends, family, colleagues in the idents. Give the regions a bit of autonomy if these idents are so low budget!
Besides...I feel that in general the ident is a dying concept. In this era of Sky Guide, online TV and so on we don't need to be told what programme is on next because chances are, we already know. I wouldn't be surprised if when the BBC moves on from one-ness we got idents similar to TF1's idents which are little more than bumpers with a menu every once in a while. But that's my view on the idents, and I fear that I'm alone on this one!

Can you give some egs?
Here's one example from a London based company shown in India.
That's an ident, creativity to the max, where's the creativity in these idents, even with my limited skills I could produce these new oneness idents.
Going what the CA just said, there a good chance that could be right. Maybe this is a plan? really crap idents and then BBC get the extra funds to go somewhere good and bingo the 21st Balloons type idents
