I predict the "oneness" is just for this year and we will have Love 2018 in January with the circle idents returning around February.

I actually wouldn't mind if that happened at this point, anything to take away the awful taste of Oneness.

I think we'll get the Christmas idents until New Year's Day morning after Breakfast when a rebrand will occur or the circles will return. No need for Love 2018 if the circles are being brought back.

Why when in the eyes of the BBC, Christmas ends at Midnight on NYE/NYD?

We probably been in for a disappointment and have the same idents for a few years yet

True, but not every year. 2012 they used the idents until handover to New 24 on NYD night.

That was pretty much standard in previous years - the Christmas idents would last right through New Year's Day.

Whilst I'm fully aware that the Oneness idents have been disliked by many on here (I'm no big fan myself though they are growing on me -very very slightly), I think anyone hoping for them to be withdrawn in 2018 is going to be disappointed. As far as I know, there's never been any formal confirmation that the Oneness idents would only last for a year.

Your not looking at the facts ๐Ÿ˜‰
There was suppose to be 22 to 24 idents and we have not reached that number. We have also not seen any new idents or pres in October and November.

There have deffo created another ident. But it looks like that been thrown in the bin.

And people wonder why onesness is on death door.....

Fair point. But still not concrete evidence that Oneness is actually going.

If it's not there just wasted public money on new ident for no good reason.

I can see it being chucked and they follow BBC Two's lead of bringing back old idents.

On that note, anyone else think we could see no new Christmas ident and they bring back last year's (rather poor) effort, or even go further back?

Was there ever anything official or credible to say that there definitely would be 22 to 24 idents, or was this just TV Forum assumption?

All I recall having been stated officially was that it was a 'year long collaboration' between the BBC and Martin Parr - ie. they would be working together for a year. For all we know, he might at this moment be busy up his kitchen step-ladder shooting some wobbly footage of ice skaters in Santa hats ready for Christmas.

I'd be delighted to be proven wrong, but I don't think anyone has ever said definitely that the idents would not continue to be shown after the year of collaboration ends. So I'm not getting my hopes up for the new year.

But then a pessimist is rarely disappointed. Wink

I wouldn't mind if they brought back some classic Christmas presentation for BBC 1, only problem is the best stuff was from the balloon era.

September since then hasn't seen a regular addition to the Oneness set.

24 was the official number they had once stated. Although all bets are off for the next two months, it seems that the commitment to Oneness is few and far in-between

Debatable. Last year's Christmas set began the Oneness theme, but I can't see the creatives call off the tradition of producing a new set for Christmas.

Some here have mentioned about the circles coming back. Can't see that happening, especially with the noise they made at the start of the year about their axing.

Bringing back an old set, like the Balloon or Rhythm & Movement, should be treated as a stopgap. The real focus must be on completely overhauling both BBC One and Two.
