Presumably they'll have a load of fish swimming towards the camera, stop and stare gormlessly for ten seconds and then swim away.

Ah the yellow world and character for BBC Two with the brilliant soundtrack & melody! The better days of BBC branding.

The Personality era wasn't anything to write home about IMO. BBC2 could have easily opted to chose this set over the 90s set when reverting back to a previous era, with all of them made in 16:9. However, they knew the well-deserved affection people had for the 90s set and they, therefore, chose perhaps the slightly more problematic ident era to revert back to (early ones in 4:3, some copies in questionable A/V quality etc).

I'm not sure going back to the 1991-2001 set was as hard as it may sound, as the majority of them had been adapted for widescreen in the 1997 rebrand, in preparation for widescreen broadcasts the following year. (From what I can tell, they were cropped to approx 14:9 and then stretched on the edges of the frame. It's clever and unnoticeable unless you know)

Of course, Northern Ireland have gone one step further and updated the ones that were dropped before 1997 or dropped for the refresh that year, which is amazing and it annoys me that I can't get BBC Two NI through Virgin Media…

Also BBC Two NI isn't in HD is it? So picture quality is not as much of an issue I'd assume.

While I genuinely liked the Personality ‘2’ pres package - it can be said that it was never going to match the benchmark set by the 90s idents. When you’re at the top, the only way is down.

On its own merits, it was a decent package that emphasised the personality of the ‘2’ on a much bigger scale from the previous set.

Fell Runners was used instead.

Surprised they didn’t produce a special Blue Planet II ident as they did for Planet Earth II.

Accidentally went back to before Strictly on iPlayer. Caught this Children in Need ECP on Countryfile.

to be honest, what we've got now isn't even as consistent or pretty as the bbc one cloudy globe we had in the early 1990s. at least all the endboards and captions lined up and looked the same.
