BBC Oneness - idents and presentation

Perhaps we should go back a little and just start fresh...

Have you seen those terrible idents on BBC One? What happened to the circles!?

It's funny that I'm really looking forward to seeing this set go but I'm also really preparing myself for severe dissapointment once January comes around.

All bets are off for the next few months. I’m feeling the same way, though I’m still of the opinion that the current Oneness idents won’t last beyond 2017.

Joking aside, that's 100 times better than what we've got ATM.

As for the balloons, a modern take on them might work. Taking influence from the past but looking forward.

It's just a quickly knocked-up mock image. Just done to give you an idea of a Queensferry Crossing one.

The balloon was good for it's time but the thought of a modern take on it doesn't really excite me at all. I personally want something new, as in good new, not oneness new. I don't think going back to the balloon is a good way of going about that.

I don't think BBC One is a channel that would get away with recycling old idents and concepts from the past in the same way BBC Two has, simply because they didn't really date and still look amazing nowadays. But even the 2s managed to divide opinion with some complaining they should be coming up with something completely new. I don't think their flagship channel would get off so easily.

The balloons would look rather outdated now. The channel is trying to aim for more younger viewers as the average viewing age goes up, we should be thinking of the future. If anything an identity that can tie itself to BBC One's most popular programmes. They need to review how they do junctions and continuity on the channel, it's rather stagnant.

There daytime lineup will need to be gutted out. Mind you the only two things I really liked when back when I was 18ish on BBC one daytime was Neighbours and 2.10 Classic Drama: Quincy, DM, MSW and Bergerac. I dont think BBC one will want to muck around with the daytime will there?

No offseive to your good sir but that looks cheap and nasty. it would need to be the real deal flying over.
