Speaking of the lack of consistency in graphics that occurs across the English regions in the BBC Sport thread, Inside Out was back last week and as always there are a couple of weird things thrown up by it.
Firstly, almost all of them have taken to using the
ECP as a way of trailing what's ahead on the following week's programme. This may sound quite normal but the ECP is generally used as if it's part of the programme - looking on iPlayer the London version has the presenter do their last link from inside the small box on the ECP, when of course everywhere else there's a separate
CA, and the 'coming up' bit would be part of the programme itself rather than in the credits. Almost consistent on the graphics-front here, apart from BBC One North West, which is persevering with the old ECP (where the credits shrunk down into a smaller rectangle with ECP graphics in a box above them), a fair few years after it was retired!
A couple of programmes are also still giving a full 30 seconds to the credits sequence, despite there not being all that many people to credit - this means that the credits do a VERY slow crawl up the screen that looks quite awkward. I seem to remember a Look East election debate programme a few years ago using a 2 minute long end credit sequence where the names took an age to move up the screen, as they were using the ECP at the same time to get audience reaction from after the debate!
There also seem to be two different styles on OSG - some regions have straps with a red background, others use a different version with a big logo and a white background.
Then finally, a couple of oddities from individual regions. BBC One South has chucked some lens flare over the titles, making them look nowhere near as nice, whilst BBC One West Midlands has managed to stretch the BBC blocks that appear at the start of the programme (speaking of which, is it still mandatory that the blocks have to appear at the start of shows? Can't say I remember seeing them as often anymore).
